| Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | June 29, 2007 Good (not great) beers. Their best is either their IPA or ESB. Service is okay, although they always seem to sit me when I’m with a large group by the band, where it’s hard to converse.. Food is usually pretty good. Great beer garden, especially in the summer. My favorite place in Westport. | cbrixius (9), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | March 20, 2007 Stopped in to check this place out after working in the KC area. Of the establishments in the area of McCoy’s, this is probably the most welcome stop for the average craft beer enthusiast. Most of the other bars seem to stick to macros or Boulevard on tap. The feel was typical brewpub and the service was OK. The selection varied, but they skewed to the lighter side, with a light lager, red, ipa, dry stout, raspberry, and brown ale being the primary choices. No heavy hitters were in the lineup. Didn’t order food, as it was more important to hit up some authentic KC bar-b-que at Arthur Bryants. Overall, the place seemed too interested in catering to the college snob crowd, and by serving coors, bud, and michelob on the side, showed they are more interested in turning a buck than actually showing their love of beer. | | heemer77 (146), Savannah, Missouri | | December 27, 2006 I visited here while staying at a hotel in the Westport area. The location was nice with a young crowd the night I was there. The pub stmosphere was decent. My family tells me that the food was very good, but I only drank there. The beers were mostly bland and lifeless. | BrewSquid (9), Plattsburg, Missouri does not count - explanation | | December 9, 2006 Beautiful brewpub centrally located in the Westport district of Kansas City. The only pub I know of that has a ’cigar lounge’. Keith, the brewer, does an excellent job of maintaining a variety of beers on tap (6 or 7). His GABF award winning ’Ginger Shandy’ is to die for. | | theisti (83), Leawood, Kansas | | November 8, 2006 [ Updated December 5, 2006 ] Went for a business lunch, so I will need to add the beer rating when I get a chance to sample. However, wanted to review this place because the food was great, and the service was WAY above average. Overall, just a great experience. UPDATE - did a beer sampler, and overall average, to slightly above average brews. | | KUEric (74), Chevy Chase, Maryland | | June 13, 2006 Went for a nice little dinner after conference downtown. GREAT patio, waitstaff was friendly and nice, passable service. Beers are above average, not the greatest selection, but some nice bottles of other stuff. | | SubstanceT (110), Saint Louis, Missouri | | July 31, 2005 Didnt have anything to drink but this place is pretty nice. Clean and the staff was pretty friendly. THe area of town that this is in is filled with bars kinda like this but the beer selection at most places is questionable. At least here they have some stuff that is different. | McCoysdrinker (1), north kansas city, Missouri does not count - explanation | | July 6, 2005 They have added more taps recently, and now feature a brown, an IPA, a stout, a light, a rasberry light, a wheat (varies with season) and a shandy. At all times they have at least two seasonals on tap as well. Great place to meet and talk with friends or simply people watch. Brown is superb, as are the seasonal porter, scottish ale and Mai Bock. | | bleeng (48), Spring near Beersel , Texas | | June 28, 2005 Very consistent reviews which speak of the consistency of McCoys beer and food. I noticed from my last trip here that the beer quality and range have improved over the past couple of years. The food has always been good.
Parking is spotty and a little dark but there are enough people around to feel safe. Worth a visit when in KCMO. | | Indra (47), Prairie Village, Kansas | | June 28, 2005 One of the better brewpubs in town, for certain. Quality menu choices, typically at least one or two interesting if not downright tasty beers on tap. Parking is often non-existent, but that’s about the only real drawback, in my opinion. | View Page : 1 2
