Very nice Brewery in historic area of St Charles. Decor is inviting. Great Place to take out of towner’s. Beer quality is hit and miss. There beer seems to be better quality during the fall & winter months. Typically a good selection on tap. Menu has many good choices. Growlers are available.

In a nice area of downtown St. Charles. Bought a sampler for 6.90 where I got to try all of their beers, which weren’t too exciting. The atmosphere was decent, the NCAA tournament was going on and people were cheering loudly (as was I) for Belmont. The waitress was nice but the food was kind of bland - burger and fries was the fare for today. They had some expensive souvenirs available for sale and after the mediocre selections, I passed.

(Visited 08/2007): Trailhead Brewing Co is located in St. Charles in a quaint little area on Riverside Drive. There are a couple small parking lots adjacent, as well as parking along the entire street.
The restored building is really pretty, boasting a large tank in the back that is emblazoned with the logo. Inside there are multiple levels with a bar on the main floor. The atmoshphere is rustic.
Trailhead offers 6 different beers with one being a seasonal. They have a sampler for a little under $7 so you can try all the beers. They range from Light to Stout with nothing too unique. All of the beers are average at best.
Service is good at this brewpub. Our server knew all of the beers and was clearly knowledgeable about what was on the sampler. She made good food recommendations too.
Speaking of food, it made up somewhat for the lackluster beers. The crab & artichoke dip was pretty tasty. The BBQ chicken was a little dry but overall pretty good, and the fries were great.
All in all the good outweighs the not-so-good at this establishment, but it’s too bad that the not-so-good is the main reason I wanted to visit in the first place. I would give this place another shot but honestly none of the beers made me think I really had to come back the next time I visit St. Louis.

Despite the quaint riverfront setting, this brewpub is unfortunately about as mediocre as it gets. But you take what you can get. The regular beers were in poor condition on our visit, sour in the wrong places, but the seasonal smoked Scotch ale was a tasty surprise. The food was mostly decent, fried pub food in large portions, but overpriced. We did have good service. The place is spacious with nice TVs at the bar, if you need to catch a game.

Visited 8/4/07. Old brick warehouse building by the Missouri River, in the touristy "Old Capitol" historic district. So a nice brewpub ambiance. Mix of tourists and locals. Only had time for one beer before I the O’Fallon tour, so I tried their seasonal honey wheat. Looked wonderful, taste was just about average. But a nice attentive staff, clean restrooms make it more of a decent restaurant that happens to make beer. If I had time on the way back next day, I’d hoped to sample their regular lineup. At least it’s just a few miles from the STL airport and right off I-70.

Stopped by b/c i ws in the area and had to see if this place was worth the drive all the way out to st. chuck. Cool looking old brick building yards from the Missouri river. Nice looking interior with brewing equipment and stairways leading to hidden dining rooms. Now for the beer, nothing really stands out as something you have to try. Only 6 taps and 6 of the most boring beers you could get. Blond, amber, brown a fruit beer and a porter. None are good and they almost taste the same. Did not try any food but other people seemed to be enjoying their fare. My advice to this place is to try some experimantaion with their beer. Try a Belgian ale or something. That would probably be the only way they would get me to come back out there.

I was relatively suprised by this place. The beers are somewhat lacking (and from the looks of the ratings, extremely inconsistent), but the food was good. Our waitress, Ashlie (that’s actually how she spells it) was excellent, knowledgeable of both the food and drink, and very attentive. The grilled tuna sandwich was delicious, and they have great fries. Go for the establishment, not so much the beers. Filled up and went for a nice bike ride on the Katy trail, which practically touches the brewery.

The staff is very knowledgeable about thier industry, the food is always good and the beers are good, not great, the atmosphere and responsible crowd make the experience much richer than the beer.

Not a bad place to grab a bite. The beer is a bit on the weak side, but the food is OK. I had a Scotch Ale on tap and it was the best that I’ve had from Trailhead... the rest of the beer lineup is mediocre. Building is pretty cool.

Nice place. Manufactured lodge woodish kind of place. I went durring happy hour which had half priced appetizers and pizza. Pizza was pretty good, big enough to feed one person or maybe 1 + wife. It looks like they had an occasional seasonal beer available. The bartender was very nice and knew a lot about the beers. Downtown St Charles has some interesting little shops. Id suggest headding down to town, do the historic kind of things then stop in for a beer.
