| GJF (22), Cedar Rapids, Iowa | | November 12, 2009 Eh. Yea, yea, yea. Kind of a nice place (the building itself is fabulous, but they’ve mad eit kind o generic inside). The beers were all lagers, and frankly not very good. The place was empty, but a lot of fairly annoying staff. I have no need to go back. | | sroberts (26), Columbia, Missouri | | September 7, 2009 The old building, provided space, and overall atmosphere make a trip to Morgan Street worth it. The beer selection is minimal but the beers are decent. The establishment provides an avenue of relaxation for all ages. | smart001 (5), Scott AFB, Illinois does not count - explanation | | August 23, 2009 With 5 beers on tap at a time and brewed in the back room the beer was extremely fresh and pretty good. The food was amazing, if not a little expensive. The waitress was extremely friendly, witty, and hot. When you go, park in the 5$ parking along the riverfront, it is guarded and the cheapest in the area, plus a nice walk along the riverfront after dinner is good. In the back is a club that gets hopping along about 11PM or so. It made for an extremely entertaining, tasty eveneing. | | phaleslu (88), Cincinnati, Ohio | | July 17, 2009 Big brewpub on the Landing. Haven’t eaten here and I would guess the food is so-so. Drink specials on their house brews, particularly on weeknights. The beer is better than the macros you’ll find at neighboring bars, but nothing special. Like a lot of Landing bars, the patrons can be crass, a mix of frat boys, trashy girls, tourists, and other jerk-types. The music is generally too loud. They have a nice building and did the brewpub thing completely wrong, sterilizing the look and attracting the worst kind of clientele. | | dm9831 (30), Monee, Illinois | | February 1, 2009 [ Updated February 12, 2009 ] i had a rather mundane lunch of cajun shrimp here, and sampled the 5 beers they had on tap. the beers were not bad, but rather mundane, i guess to appeal to a lower common denominator. i could not tell if the wait staff knew anythjing about the beer they served. conveniently located to my hotel in the trendy laclede’s landing area of st. louis. maybe i can find a good beer bar on the landing, but i haven’t yet. if you can only visit one brewer while on a trip to st. louis, don’t choose this one. | | cazort (25), Newark, Delaware | | October 7, 2008 In my opinion, this place wins on location and food, but the best aspect of this place is the service. The beers here are above average for a microbrewery, but are nothing to write home about. The main downside, however, is selection: at any given time, only five beers are on tap. The food and beer is reasonably priced. The hostess, my waitress, and the person bringing out the food from the kitchen were all extremely attentive and friendly and polite. My experience here was very pleasant. The only really odd thing about this place was that I observed a large number of people coming in here and ordering macro-brews out of bottles. Why? Maybe it’s a St. Louis thing, but it seemed a bit strange to me to go to a brewpub and order macros. | dubiousfrog (6), Bloomington, Indiana does not count - explanation | | September 22, 2008 Visited at 11.00 on a Saturday night when the place was just starting to get lively. Was served a beer in a plastic glass when all around were drinking out of glass. Was told it was for safety reasons. Presumably to stop me thrusting it into the neck of the surly, unhelpful bar staff. (at nearly 50 and English I don’t consider myself to stand out as a yobbo). The beer was uninspiring as was the bar. Conclusion - nor really a brew-pub just another trendy place taking advantage of its location near a casino and in the heart of the Old district.
Overall - Crap, avoid it | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | August 3, 2008 This downtown area kind of reminds me of certain parts of the French Quarter. I bet this place hops on the weekends. I’m convinced all of the places here look like chains. Not a single unique thing about this place. All of the beers were infected. Yet another instance where where the focus is obviously not on the beer. Missouri seems to be a lackluster brewing scene compared to the small brewpubs of Kansas I just passed through. Quantity not quality here. | | BeerandBlues2 (157), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | July 22, 2008 Very large place occupying most of a block in Laclede’s Landing. It looks like late night this place would be really hopping. The beers were below average but the staff was nice enough. Easy walk from the Gateway Arch. | BOBANDDOUG (1), Belleville, Illinois does not count - explanation | | December 16, 2007 Went there prior to the Packers/Rams game. I understand it was crowded, but the service sucked. Food was, however, just wonderful. Ordered a crab cake & a burger meduim well. Both were perfect, and the burger was actually a perfect MW!
The tall dopplebock was a great match!
