Dark place, Belgian beers and some cheese. I remember it was hot inside with no air-condition. not the best place in Amsterdam.

Visited this place back in July 2003. The decor and the premises are very nice and cosy. Drank only Hoegaarden, but as the description says has a few other Belgians. The seat next to windows offer a good view to the wall across only couples of meters due to narrow street. Back in the day (2003) the wall had a graffiti/painting of tropical island with palms, beah and the sky. It was a very good way to create a larger space illusion for the outside view.

Locale piccolissimo ma molto carino in pieno centro. Selezione discreta di trappiste e qualche bottiglia non introvabile. All’interno si può fumare di tutto.

Buen bar al estilo belga en el centro de amsterdam.Seleccion acceptable,nada fuera de lo común, Buen sitio para pararse a tomar unas belgas con música.Son muy amables.

Great place. A few benches out front. Inside is small on the first floor, a couple of booths, four stools at the small bar. Modern piano jazz playing. Eight taps, 20 bottles or so. Nice bartender. Dim lighting, some candles. No really exciting beers but likely something new for most people. Tops for atmosphere, above average for selection.

Just off the main pedestrian shoping drag. Close to Dam Square (and In DeWildeman). Tiny but convivial. Dark and woody. Lots of brewery memorabilia over the walls. About 40 beers, mainly Belgian plus a few from Ij. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary. Opens at 1400. If you are pushed for time there’s not really any pressing reason to visit here with Wildeman so close but I rather liked the places and found myself popping in a few times during my week long stay in Amsterdam.

This tiny bar is just off a main shopping street and always seemed to be busy – but it wouldn’t take many people to make it crowded. It’s dark and cramped inside, with very low amber and red lighting and the mirrored back of the bar area doesn’t help make it seem any more spacious or bright. There are two benches outside in the alleyway, presumably for smokers although I noticed that people were smoking inside – surely a fire hazard! There’s what looks like a cross between a ladder and a narrow staircase leading upstairs to the toilets. There was a small choice of mainly Belgian beers on draught. Nothing to write home about but OK for a break when out shopping or negotiating the tourist crowds if you really can’t walk the short distance further to the Wildeman.

What can you expect from a place so small you could build a full size replica in a large walk-in closet? Great, but limited selection, beer! This is a find, a place where you might believe you’d been transported back to a comfortable setting 200 years ago. Small but tasty selection of Belgian and a few Dutch brews. Expressing their revolutionary views by daftly ignoring the smoking ban. A crowd inside and out, but if you come, and appreciate a true old-hole-in-the-wall pub, you’ll know why.

From the outside I expected more, it was a pity to discover that this bar was ordinary and the service so shameful!

Very small but can make a nice alternative every now and then to the top bars like Wildeman and Arendsnest. Nice but more limited beer selection.
