tdtm82 (4), , England does not count - explanation | | November 14, 2009 [ Updated November 21, 2009 ] Truly wonderful independant shop specilising in independant beers and various other alcoholic beverages.
Shipping value to UK is also very good considering how expensive it could be.
Really authentic place with people whom really care about their beer. I just wish that their sold out ranges could be replaced with stock or ticked off entirely. For De Molen shopping go here. I recommend.
Oh have not had a bad De Molen beer from them yet. Also great for German beer and odd real rarities. You have to pay for the premium stuff but that is expected. If you want De Struise too go here. | | Svesse (88), Hässelby, Sweden | | October 15, 2009 Great beer store just across the street (well it’s actually an alley) from Gollem. It’s not a huge place but it’s packed with beers. Found lots of interesting stuff from Netherlands, Belgium, US and Denmark for example. Some rare beers as well. I managed to get away with some De Molen and Struise. Prices are as expected, not really cheap but good beer is worth paying for. Nice, friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Good opening hours. Will be back. A must visit in Amsterdam. | | dec23 (12), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | October 7, 2009 In looks and atmosphere this place is unbeatable. Tucked away in a small alley, an old style shop board hanging outside, and an old Dutch transport bike parked outiside with a Westvleteren crate on it. It’s like a museum piece of a beer shop. The selection is pretty modern though. Mostly Belgian, Dutch USA, Denmark, Norway stuff. All the new and innovative brewers present but something is always missing. The staff range from decent to enthusiastic. In general they are not quite as calloused by hordes of tourists as the Bierkoning staff are. The big herds of sheep never even find this little gem. The opening times are a real bonus. The prices however are not. For me this is the place to go at times when the Bierkoning is already closed, because at the Cracked Kettle they have the same stuff but less of it and more expensive. I hear that sometimes the occasional rarity turns up which you wont find anywhere else in the city. What I like, though, is the fact that you can also get quality traditional "beer snacks" there like sausage, cheese, nuts etc. There’s something to be said about being able to buy Trappist cheese and aambachtelijke metworst along with your beer. | | Beerlando (43), Orlando, Florida | | September 3, 2009 Tiny shop directly across the street from Gollum beer bar. Short on square footage, they do a good job of packing alot of good brews into a small space. They had the best selection of De Struise beers that I found in all of the Netherlands and Belgium. The lambic section was smaller than I had hoped for, and lacking in rarities. Of particular interest was the small but stellar collection of American rarities, such as DarkLord, which I was told were "brought by a friend". The owner was friendly and helpful, even giving me good directions after I passed on buying anything. After just having visited De Bierkoning, this place was a bit of a letdown, but it would have otherwise been a damn fine beer store. | | Nordcore (11), North of, Norway | | July 16, 2009 Very nice store "hidden" in a small street. Lot of different beer. Very good homepage where you can plan what kind of beers you want to buy before you get there! I just gave him my list and he got the beers for me. | | marcus (87), Sacramento, California | | July 13, 2009 Stopped by to pick up a couple beers to bring home. I bought so many that I had to drink what wouldn’t fit in my luggage. Very nice selection, including the unmentionable Trappist beer and a full line of De Molen. Management is very friendly and knowledgeable. | | ladnewton (60), London, England | | July 1, 2009 Very well-stocked beer store opposite Cafe Gollem on Raamsteeg. A must for those of you taking beer home. My Brouwerij ’t IJ selections perfectly survived the luggage hold of the return flight to London after my trip. The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, on top of being fully conversant in English. Recommended. | gam (5), brisbane , Australia does not count - explanation | | May 25, 2009 [ Updated May 31, 2009 ] Yes a good selection they sell out pretty quickly on the good beers you have to be quick. Overseas the priceof shipping hurts but it still comes to no more than what I,ve paid for some bottles in Australia. | | NoiZe (49), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands | | January 15, 2009 Nice selection, a bit expensive. Good service. | martinboer (4), Amsterdam, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | January 7, 2009 August 21, 2006 [ Updated December 26, 2006 ]
Aug. 21, ’06. Very friendly service. Great location across from De Gollem. Bought a few Abbey Dubbels and will definitely come back. - Returned in December 2006 to buy Westvleteren, of which they have all 3 and costs much cheaper than in Brussels.. |
