Great bar in the city centre. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. The place was intended as a butcherís place many decades ago, but never used as such. Some unfamiliar beers on tap. Great juices available for your driver as well. But well, selection could be a bit more new worldish for me. :-)

I really love this place and itís probably by favourite bar in Leiden. Itís rather small, despite the conservatory out front. The main part of the bar is like a walk-in history lesson tough. The tiled walls are very special. There are usually around nine beers on tap and a decent bottle selection. Always worth a visit, but not a tickers mecca! Service was great and the staff know their beer. The opening hours on the door donít match their opening hours on the website and neither matches reality :-)

Small and crowdy cafe, felt like walking into a humid jungle in the middle of Leiden. Beer selection is nothing to write home about, Leroy on tap was new for me. Lots of talaktive guest, nice athmosphere.

Not a beer bar per se, but a very comfortable locals bar. Does occasionally get unlikely stuff on tap (never seen Noyon Noire de Slack anywhere else in the Netherlands), but usually a fairly generic range. Nice, relaxing ambience.

Small pub with only a handful of beers on draught and on bottle. Nothing wrong with it, but not worth visiting if youíre looking for anything special.

Very nice small pub near Hooglandse kerk, therefore very close to the Bierwinkel. Eclectic beer range, rather well chosen (if only they would get rid of the Jupi***). The very nice tiled walls (it was meant to be a butchery but never was) are slowly being renovated.

A favorite of mine in Leiden. Itís a regulars bar, with everyone from retired men in the corners to college groups getting silly out in front. The selection ranges from good to excellent depending on when youíre there. There are 9 beers on tap at any time and the staff are knowledgable about them. The prices are great for the Netherlands and much better than Olivier (right across the street). If youíre looking for a place to sit comfortably, this is it!

Old, small cafe in the historic city centre. Offers a nice atmosphere with good looking bar. Pretty good service; they know their beer selection. Besides Sas and Juliper pilsners they had a Saison, Weihenstephaner, Leffe and some others on tap. Bottles mostly Dutch beers. Overall a quite limited selection. Prices are average. Still a nice, yet crowed, place to visit.
