| skortila (57), Bunnik, Netherlands | | July 2, 2007 They really invested a lot in presentation. Everything and I mean everything looks like it is put there with a reason. It looks, how we dutch people say ’made’. The location itself is quite nice. The church suits the purpose for a cafe very well.
The food is okay, the beers are quite common, but good. Only their prices... way too high. All beers are at least an euro too expensive. But my guess is they can do this. It’s a beercafe for onetime-beerdrinkers or starters. They don’t know (yet) it’s too expensive. | | caesar (111), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | | January 22, 2007 [ Updated July 1, 2007 ] Interior is just beautiful. Bit modern English pub-style, but in an old church. I visited on sunday afternoon, lots of 25-35 yr old people with kids. Service however takes way too long. The beermenu consists of small info lines about the beers, really nice. Selection is decent, only belgian beers, but the good ones. However, prices are quite high, specially for Holland. Cheese platter was quite ok. Food was decent, but was not very warm, and not enough for the price you pay. Although it looks nice, and they invested much time in all kinds of small details, it’s not my kind of pub. | | NoiZe (35), Zeist, Netherlands | | January 6, 2007 It’s in a big old church-like building with very high walls, a bit too high to make the ambiance personal. A small Belgium pub is build in it with an old looking bar. Old looking, because everything is of course not authentic. The service was not very good, too un-personal and not quick. Maybe that’s because it was full when I was there.
Selection of beers is good. Not very special brews, but for the common pilsener drinker it’s very enjoyable.
Price is a bit high, you can get them cheaper elsewhere.
I did not have any food, so I cannot judge that. Not that much interesting stuff on the menu though.
Overall I give it a 7 because I think it has got the potential to become nice. Now it still has to prove itself. |
