September 30, 2008 It’s a nice place, especially since it’s non-smoking now. A lot of belgian and dutch beers, but not a lot of surprises. Still enjoyable to drink a couple of beers. Ow.. and ther’s no table service.. |

March 26, 2008 Good beer selection but place so was so smoky I couldn’t last more than one beer. EVERYBODY in the place but we was chain-smoking, and the stink was so bad I couldn’t even focus on the beer. Table service was terrible (we were ignored) but the bartender was very helpful in selecting a beer. I wouldn’t go back, if for no other reason than the poisoned atmosphere. |

September 24, 2007 [ Updated September 15, 2008 ] Really nice spot. Pretty good selection and I got good recommendations from the staff. Small and comfortable, in a great area. Highly recommended. |

September 10, 2007 Located just between Bert’s and Oudaen, this should be added on your list of priorities in Utrecht. Just by the town’s main canal, this laid-back Cafe offers a very solid Belgian beer list by its size, but perhaps not as adventurous as it could be. Still, the feel of the place is nice and does manage to attract the student as much as the retired worker despite a music selection that seems geared towards some of the odd 70k students in town. |

July 5, 2007 Living in Utrecht, Kafe Belgie is one of my favourite haunts. Lots of great beer, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Beste during the day, when it is nice and quite; hectic at night. The place is quite important in the alternative scene and if you ever go to see the Levellers at Tivoli (opposite), you’re almost sure to find the band there both before and after. |

August 15, 2006 Friendly staff but can be pretty busy so slow to get a beer, great selection but nowhere to sit outside (except on the steet). |

December 27, 2005 Visited 20051103 for a business meal.
Friendly place with a serviceminded staff, interested in what I wanted. Could always find beers I hadn’t tasted before. Very fine meal. I want to visit tham again.

September 18, 2005 very reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a great sellection. One bartender even let me sample a few of the beers on tap before decing which one i wanted. The places get really crowded in the evenings, but is perfect in the afternoons. |

August 3, 2005 Good ambience. When you understand dutch this place is nice to visit on an afternoon. A beer and a paper or magazine. Nice. In the evening it is very crowded. Good collection of belgian ales, when you are lucky they have the westy 12 for you. Pitty they don’t have decent gueuzes. The food is quite good and decently priced. They always have about two interesting meals (one for vegetarians). |
