| RGDave (21), Lebanon, New Jersey | | January 26, 2011 Awesome setting in a restored 3-story stone mill. Open and classic inside, welcoming horseshoe bar on the main floor with aux. bar upstairs, just their own beers on tap. My favorites are the Lazy Jake Porter, an excellent porter, and the ESB. Oatmeal Stout is great too in the wintertime. | | hbmason (10), Shoreline, Washington | | July 25, 2010 Service is subpar the few times i was there, food is overpriced, the beer is german style and very seldom changes | | Leafs93 (62), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania | | January 14, 2010 [ Updated June 19, 2011 ] Been to the brew pub more times than I can count. A nice place to grab a burger and a beer. They brew their own and usually have 5-6 beers on tap. All the beers are decent, however they can be hit or miss. The food is also hit or miss, sometimes the fish and chips are great and other times a soggy mess. However the beer is the attraction and I choose the Lazy Jake Porter 9 times out of 10.
UPDATE: I have to lower my review as the food quality has gone down and there is almost no change in beers. They have settled into just making the same beers over and over. Your a brewpub, brew some different beers. | | Bonster (29), Jersey Shore, New Jersey | | September 29, 2009 Rustic old stone barn in scenic area of Long Valley. Their beers were all well done but none really stood out for me. I haven’t ever had a bad meal here but the variety of food has gone down a bit. This is one of my favorite places to spend a snowy day...in front of their fireplace watching the snow fall over the hills with a porter in hand. | | EithCubes (125), , Germany | | December 31, 2008 Beautiful old building with modernized innards and a nice overlook. Beer is good but not amazing (very glad my various locals have been better), there is some potential here for good seasonals and one-offs, but the standard lineup didnt impress. Wings were very good, service friendly, far too many children for my liking. In the end, definitely worth the visit. | balzac (4), , New Jersey does not count - explanation | | September 18, 2008 The LVPB used to be one of my favorite places to meet the guys and have a good session.
The menu seems to continually shrink and food quality is down significantly.
Ie. used to love they’re saurbraten but off the menu now.
English Pale ale is good. Lazy Jake Porter is the best most consistwent beer in my opinion.
Ambiance is great being in a 100 year old farm house. I still suggest, but eat before you go. Cheers! | NJJereme (5), Saint Petersburg, Florida does not count - explanation | | June 28, 2008 Very hardy, rustic and bucolic setting in Northwest NJ. Stumbled upon by chance when going on backroads of NJ. Friendly staff, a bit busy on Sundays due to food specials. Fantastic scenery in the fall and winter, very cozy, huge hearth on the first floor. In addition to their own beer selections there are plenty of spirits. Great place. | | Rastacouere (580), Montréal, Quebec | | October 9, 2007 A small and charming village that happens to be in a Valley is the lucky host if this nice operation that is the Long valley Brewery. It was the 8th of October at noon and we had the chance to sit on the excellent, farmy and calm terrace where I was sweating off just by sitting there. In October! Excellent setup, beautiful building from the outside. The food menu was varied and focusing on local ingredients. For the simple meals that we ordered, I was very, very impressed by the quality of the food that was delivered. I even like the fries and I generally avoid them except once or twice a year. The porter was very good and darker beers seem to be their force. The other standard ones were generic, but clean. I hope you are lucky on the seasonals if you go there, because it’s a bit out of the way and I would not visit again unless intending to sleep not that far away, because this is a perfect place to just stays for a whole afternoon on the sunny patio, but you would not necessarily want to spend an evening there. Excellent, careful service deployed with attention and care. I felt really well there, but had it been a rainy day, I’m not sure I’d be so generous. | | TomDecapolis (69), Skippack, Pennsylvania | | August 6, 2007 [ Updated February 4, 2009 ] Situated in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere NJ…but still a nice secluded area. This Pub and Brewery has a nice outdoor setting area and rustic but clean barn feel to it. Actually it looks to be an old renovated barn or at least a farm house. <P>
Menu has a nice selection of full entrees, specials, sandwiches and BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was very good and was served with homemade chips. The sandwich had guac on it…nice. Prices are about average to the high side of average for a brew pub. Bar only had a few seats open on a Monday around 6pm. Nice to see the locals out supporting a brew pub.
Beers were average. They had a 1,000 Batch special beer but only in bottles and they were going for $20 a bottle and they would not allow for one to go. Would have loved to try it…but also needed to drive myself home.
Server was friendly hostess was smoking hot.
| | freekyp (31), Thomasville, North Carolina | | September 10, 2006 [ Updated October 7, 2007 ] This is a really quaint brewery in the beautiful hilly country of Long Valley. Visit it on a nice day and sit outside for maximum comfort. The food was good across the board, even though we only partook of sandwich fare on my visit. Unfortunately, the beers were mediocre at best and most suffered from a sewery well water character. A better restaurant than brewpub, but worth a visit anyway. |
