GlenVargas | I drove by High Desert twice before realizing that this little house-lookin’ thing was a brewpub. I felt totally out of place when I walked in the door, kind of like one of those movie scenes when the record player stops, but the staff was totally cool. The food was average, probably way overpriced, and the beers were good, even if not spectacular. All in all, in was a cool little place with a nice, laid back atmosphere. I’m looking forward to going again and re-filling my growler.

chef201atc | This place is a small, hole-in-the-wall that is sort of hidden in a neighborhood. It would be easy to miss if you weren’t looking for it – thanks for the suggestion erway. Had nine of there own beers on tap when I was there. I had the IPA, which was solid. Wish I had been there when the barley wine or impy stout was on. I liked it so much, I visited twice in the same week, the first time was great – good beer, good food, good service. I should have stopped at one visit. The second time in, I pretty much got ignored. I finally got a beer, and then it took another 10-15 minutes for someone to ask if I wanted to order food – it wasn’t that busy at 4:30 in the afternoon. Next my food came up in the kitchen window and just sat there – the waitress that took my order was nowhere around and none of the other waitresses bothered to bring out my food. I finally got it and it was still good, even if it wasn’t piping hot. The icing on the cake was when an obvious regular sat down beside me at the bar and got immediate attention from the bartender – I guess that’s what happens when you’re a local.

| ultrashuai | This is truly a hidden gem in LC.
Aside from a variable section of good (but not great) beers, the food is delicious and remarkably cheap.
Live music some nights really livens the atmosphere, and the small size of the place adds to its intimacy and you’re likely to have a good time with the locals.
I always recommend High Desert to people going to Las Cruces, even if they are continuing on to other places.
No bottles but growlers are sold.

fordest | This place was cool. Lots more selection than I had expected. I had expected maybe five taps, but there was more like 15. Lots of variety on thier house brews. Didn’t see any guest taps. Don’t know if they had any guest bottles availiable. What I had there was pretty darn good. Maybe on the way home I will eat there and change the food rating.

| AndrewKoransky | I visited back in Feb 04. For such a tiny little place, it’s a miracle that they had over 10 in-house beers on tap (if memory serves) when we visited. The food was fair, but my wife and I thought most of their beers "didn’t suck" (as is their slogan). Some were actually very good. Well worth stopping by if you happen to find yourself in Las Cruces. I’d even say it’s worth a drive from El Paso if good beer is your passion. (Unless things have changed, you certainly won’t find this kind of brew pub in El Paso.)

| jameskanel | This is a favorite place for me an all of my friends. Green Chile Cheeseburger is great with the sweet potato fries (lots of ranch).

Terminus | This is my go-to place in Las Cruces. Most of their beer is very good, however, i had their amber lager the other day and it was total butter city (diacytl). Their IPA, stout, porter, and seasonals are always very solid.

DrunkAsASkunk | This was a cool little find in the middle of nowhere and I thank TannerTavernboys for taking me here. Overall you enter and its very cool...beer coasters and beer paraphenalia are all over the place. Its a cool quiet little brewery, with very good one on one service. The beer selection is nothing all to impressive, but they do have a seasonal and 6-10 taps on hand usually. The food is typical brewpub stuff, but really good may i add. Overall its a nice experience for being in the middle of nowhere!
