a good selection for upstate NY. Surprised that prices were not cheaper at all. Jolly pumpkin and sour stuff is abundant. There are a few things not available downstate, not enough though. Tap system had nice things including a tap only Keegan but you need to have an Oliver’s growler (wack!). Regular self layout, does not look pretty.

It was a breeze to get there from the highway. As you walk in, the racks of Belgians and other imports are immediately to your left. Unibroue gets excellent shelf space, I’ve noticed this at a lot of stores in the US, good for them. Lots of Lambics, including Cantillon Lou Pepe, and other interesting rarities I don’t see in a lot of stores. Pretty solid international rep, sandwiched between a few crappy eastern European pale lagers were some nice Baltic Porters, Eisbocks, and some kick ass Normand cider. A little help from the employees would have been cool, but they seemed to have their hands full at the registers, a lot of the Quebec contingent at BCTC showed up at the same time and customers were filing in at a pretty steady pace. But when it came to check out, they were quite friendly, one of them even spoke a little French, and my friends who bought a box full of brews got a little discount and a few bottle cozies, which was nice of them. After I paid for my cider, I noticed the growler filling station that didn’t seem operative, and the little back section with seasonals, clearouts and other oddballs. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience, great selection, relatively decent prices – again with the overpriced Allagashes – and friendly staff. I’ll definitely return.

What a find! Oliver’s is nothing to look at from the outside, but it’s packed to the gills with beer. Two looooooong double-sided aisles of imports and micros and a whole mess of macros in the back, if that’s your thing. Took me about twenty minutes to browse everything and make mental notes before I got a box and started filling it. Kid in a candy store. TONS of Belgians, Germans, English and locals. No shopping carts or "baskets".... this place seems to be aimed at larger-volume customers who pull up to the dock to load up their vans. Had a hard time sticking to my budget. If I had a van, I would’ve filled it. If you can’t find enough beers here to empty your wallet on, there’s something wrong with YOU, not them.
