| PilsnerPeter (95), Flushing, New York | | October 14, 2009 May be a skewed rating due to the fact I was there on an extremely busy night and late. Place is set up like a tunnel- quite awkward and difficult to acquire a drink when densely populated. Decent selection- nothing extraordinary- though it seems you’ll find the occasional rating with new arrivals and other semi-rare micros on tap. Fair prices however. I enjoyed the beer I had here, just not the crowd or the linear/tunnel-esque lay out of the place. | | CUJO (19), Brooklyn, New York | | June 24, 2009 Went to the Brooklyn Brewery event w/ Pwn3d. Can’t describe this place better than he... very crowded (due to the event?) New back room being built, just floor and walls right now... hope it comes out well! Very good beers that weren’t pricey at all! | | Pwn3d (38), Manhattan, New York | | May 25, 2009 Went here for a Brooklyn Brewery event hosted by Mr. Oliver. Small and cramped, however they did have a newly constructed drinking area in the back. Several fairly exclusive taps @ reasonable prices. Possibly because of the event but the mere fact that they hosted it makes this place respectable and active in the craft beer community. Fun spot, neat neighborhood. | | puzzl (70), New York, New York | | February 6, 2009 A lovely watering hole in Brooklyn away from the normal stuff. Incredibly cheap for NYC, these guys were pouring 12oz high grav Brooklyn beers for an event for $3/pour! They only have 10 or so taps but they are usually pretty decent. Kind of out of the way, wait for an event here. Nice ambiance, though, if you don’t care about tons of ticking a great place to stop. | | beastiefan2k (108), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | April 13, 2008 [ Updated May 29, 2008 ] I really really like this place. Inside, doors that can open when its nice and warm. ONe exposed brick wall (I’m a sucker for that) and all red everywhere else. Its not large, a few tables and a decent sized bar. While I love the interior its the price and selection that will have me coming back. taps are well priced and often have something interesting for me to drink. The bottle list is amazingly inexpensive, either just a buck or two more than store prices or sometimes exactly the same (i.e CL Xtra Gold)). Also Risk, Uno, and boggle are available to play. I will be coming back for sure. | | TeamTrappist (13), jericho, New York | | March 11, 2008 Was in the neighborhood with some time to kill, and passed by Great Bar. I noticed a sign that mentioned 12 craft beers on tap so in I went. I found a nice micro selection, some great bottles, and a very friendly and knowledgeable owner/bartender.Nice comfortable bar, definitely neighborhoody, but I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood. | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | February 5, 2008 I’ve been in here a few times, and while it’s a cool little neighborhood corner dive bar, it’s not really a destination per se. It’s a pretty cool vibe, youngish and laid back. Ratty hardwood floors and a small bar at one corner of the bar. Low light and an eclectic mix of tunes. Good tap selection...nothing super rare, but you’ll definitely be able to find something tasty. It’s worth visiting if you’re in the area and looking to shoot the shit with a buddy. | | bonbright7 (35), Bellport, New York | | November 27, 2007 I visited this little bar last week in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn for the Sixpoint release of its Tripel ale. I could have easily passed it by as it was vaguely lit from the outside, but once inside, the place a had great smoldering touch of comfort and ease to its functioning. The bartender was friendly with my first order as I looked around. It doesn’t take much to pack it in there, but everyone seemed comfortable. I hope to return as the bar has fast rotating tap list and a very good bottle selection, both of which can be seen on line in their blog. |
