xibalba89 (7), New York, New York does not count - explanation | | November 29, 2007 Nice little bar, fairly active. Good choice of music (ELO and Radiohead). Definitely care about having a good beer selection. I wasn’t sure if they specialize in IPAs or if they specialize in certain beer types for periods of time... they had quite a few IPAs on tap. Friendly staff who were helpful and didn’t give us a hard time about anything. Good place. | | sheatripper (13), Brooklyn, New York | | November 7, 2007 Draw here is the sunny front yard biergarten as opposed to a cramped garden area in the back like other places. Decent selection of American micros with a couple of import specials thrown in. Neighborhood vibe. Nice local sloper hang out on a sunny warm afternoon for beer and people watching. Nights tend to get loud and crowded however. | | JoeMcPhee (218), Jackson Heights, New York | | July 28, 2007 Lots of taps of mostly quality product. I like the layout of the inside... a large open room with small wooden table around the outer edge and a large space in the middle for when it gets crowded. Nice large patio area, which seems to be the main draw. Worth stopping in when in Park Slope. | | chimay67 (18), hunt sta, New York | | August 12, 2006 Gets extra credit for having kick butt AC. Quiet litlle place in Park Slope, nice enough selection, but nothing earth shattering. Nice bartender, and a good crowd, mostly outside in the patio area, but we were shopping the slope and needed a cool beverage break. Prices were pretty decent on bottles. | | beastiefan2k (97), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | July 3, 2006 Went there for the first time last week. 24 taps and a few bottles nothing special Duvel and Lindemans level). Taps infuenced by the InBev agenda (Leffe Bruin, Stella) as well Guiness level types) Bodingtons, Old Spechend hen). Everything else is micro, good selection (DFH, SN, Ommegang) a few Germans and 2 Belgians(Chimay and Rodenbach). They recently had two events thus had some harder to get Hooker beers and SN brews. Now the bar it self is a average size, darly lite, wooden table and booths. Exposed brock walls. Small more private area in the back, patio. Decorated with junk stuff. Big rainbow colored flag with "say no to the Bush Agenda" on it. Its a good beer bar but just an ok beer-lover bar. | | notalush (124), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York | | January 22, 2006 First of all, this is not a place to visit if you are a Bush supporter (I counted at least six anti-Bush slogans hung up around the bar), but since I’m not, I feel right at home - very homey, old-fashion pub atmosphere (like the Blind Tiger but larger and cleaner), with an alcove for darts in the back, and a small but nice outdoor patio - bottles are limited to major macros mostly, but the tap list is decent (sixpoint, victory, heavyweight, smuttynose, and allagash were all in attendance last I was there) - Bierkraft is right down the block, as well as Gorilla Coffee (the best coffee in NY, IMHO), and the neighborhood is one of the nicest in Brooklyn - worth checking out, but not going out of your way for - head to Williamsburg instead (Spuyten Duyvil, Barcade). | | austinpowers (151), New York, New York | | November 1, 2004 Decent beer bar, with an above-average beer menu. Varied tap list. Worth a stop if in neighborhood. |
