| rob897 (10), Buffalo, New York | | March 28, 2008 One of the oldest bars in Buffalo. Friendly staff and very loyal customers. | | rudolf (54), Buffalo, New York | | March 4, 2008 Great old Buffalo bar. The taps are solid but nothing mindblowing. Flying Bison does a seasonal brew Hoops, a Dunkel, specifically for this place (though I’ve heard they’re going to bottle it as blizzard bock) which is worth coming for. Food is great, German fare. They use Spar’s sausages which are far and away the best in Buffalo so its hard to go wrong. My girlfriend claims that they have the best potato pancakes she’s ever had. | | IPFreely (85), Niagara Falls, New York | | March 4, 2008 Very old school. You can tell when you walk in that this place has been around forever. Really cool atmosphere, and I was there when it was empty. I’d like to see it when it fills in a bit. Not a ton of beers, but a few solid selections like Southern Tier, the Flying Bison Hoops which is made for this bar, and a few decent German beers. I’ve heard great things about their food, although I didn’t get to try it myself. Is this a destination for beer geeks? Nah. It was a pretty cool bar with plenty of character that I’ll likely visit again, though. |
