4 reviews for Ithaca Ale House: Grill and Taproom
| Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | September 23, 2009 Well located right next to the small touristy part of Ithaca. Medium size place, I’d say this sits about 100 total, including the small patio in the front. This is yet another all-too-clean place that feels a bit like a sports bar. 20 beers on tap but 5 of them were macro shit. To my great surprise they didn’t have a single Ithaca Brewery beer on tap?!?!? I hope that it was just a bad timing thing because that makes no sense. Nothing special beer wise, a selection of quality beer that stays with the classic (Arrogant Bastard and such) and mostly avoids the smaller micros. Limited bottle selection. Food is your typical American greasy pub food. This is the place to go in Ithaca for a family friendly pint and a quick meal. But for a real beer night out in Ithaca, Chapter House and Pixel Lounge are far superior. | | beerbill (43), Laurel, New York | | August 30, 2009 I have been here a few times with my family and frankly never took the time to enter this as a place. The biggest asset to this place is that they probably have the best tap selection in the area with 20 taps, none of which are BMC. Their bottle list caters more to the BMC crowd. No problems with the service. Food is pretty much standard pub fare and is just a bit above average. No problems, but really nothing special either. If you are near the commons in Ithaca, its worth stopping in. | | IPFreely (92), Lewiston, New York | | February 16, 2009 Located just outside the Commons area. Pretty new interior with lots of stone bricks and an exposed ceiling. Not very big, but we only stopped in for drinks and there was plenty of room at the bar. Seems like it could get crowded in a hurry. Tap list was definitely solid although the bottle selection was lacking a touch. One way or the other, they don’t waste too much space on macros. Service was attentive and fairly knowledgeable. Didn’t eat, but the food looked and smelled very good. It was a pretty worthwhile place | brewbob47 (1), , New York does not count - explanation | | January 18, 2009 My wife and I stopped in and had some huge burgers that were marinated in various brews. She had the Stout burger, I the Bastard burger. They were large, cooked to our liking, and included sides. Very tasty, although somewhat pricey.
The twenty taps offered some great, standard micros and a few new ones, at least for me. Check their web site to gain an appreciation of the variety.
Service was fantastic, in spite of the place getting very busy. Stefanie was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. George the bartender was also very friendly, knowledgeable in the micro arena and helpful. Absolutely no complaints in this regard.
The clientele consists of Cornell University students, professors, locals and tourists. Very friendly crowd in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere.
