Now I know this place is closed but I used to go all the time. Service was good and bar was really nice. Always had fresh beer even if it was not brewed locally it was seasonal. I was hoping they would open a new location and I still hope they do. The bartenders were friendly and the food was good.

Visited here 16th December 2005, quite a nice bar in a pleasant location, food looked good but we never got to have any.

Haven’t been here in several years but used to g frequently. Nice place overall, and the beers are good...better than Heartland. Food is great. The only problem I had was getting kickbacks...there weren’t any.

Well said, I agree with the previous comments. Standard pub fare / average. Could have a better selection of brews. Good location, classy enough looking place, solid bar atmosphere without being a dive, good views on the Ave., with lots of potential still waiting to get its act together.

I guess what austinpowers said below covers it. When I first glimpsed the entrance on my way elsewhere, I thought wow, a new, not known microbrewery. I popped in, asked the staff about it, they went like "Yeah, we brew micros". Later that day, or the next was it(?), I returned to find out that the beers were brewed by Chelsea Brewing & Co. Now, I found the beers decent, but all in all the establishment was like the bedroom town of beers.

I really, really want Greenwich Brewing Co. (GBC) to get better, so please take this as constructive criticism from someone who lives nearby and would love nothing more than to see it improve. The beers, brewed by Chelsea Brewing (located at Chelsea Piers) are fine. The problem is GBC’s marketing of them. There should be a seasonal beer that rotates every three months without fail. GBC also needs to ask Chelsea Brewing to make something unusual once in awhile - a bock, a porter, a steam beer. GBC’s beer menu needs a beer spiel talking about its heritage as a brewpub, and telling something about the beers. Posters on the wall should tout the beers, just like Heartland Brewing does. Just as importantly, the bartenders need to be more beer-savvy if GBC is going to try to sell microbrews. The beer names and descriptions could be quirkier and play on local names/themes from Greenwich Village. Don’t have the beer menu just say "Seasonal". Bother to print a beer menu that states the name of the seasonal beer and tells about it. Act like you care about beer and beerlovers will gladly return in droves. Consider contracting with Magic Hat (like Virgil’s BBQ in Midtown does) for GBC beer instead of Chelsea Brewing.
