Yet another NYC beer place I’ve been to a million times and not rated - this is probably my favorite Heartland location - it’s roomy inside, and quite laid back compared to some of the other locations - it’s location in Union Square is a plus, as the other locations are in mostly touristy parts of town - the food and beer is the same as the other locations, obviously (ie. overpriced and mostly lackluster) - if you must go to Heartland, then come here, but trust me, no one must go to heartland.

It was packed when I visited on a Friday evening and very difficult to find somewhere to sit unless you’re eating. But nevertheless I persevered and was glad I did when I eventually got a table and a seasonal taster including 7 of their beers for only $14.95! It’s a great deal if you want to get a taste of everything they’ve got to offer. Decent place and the food looked good -very varied menu including both bar food and a proper restaurant menu- although we didn’t eat here.

Went to the Union Square location on a Saturday afternoon and I was very impressed. Prices were a little high, even for NYC, but a great atmosphere, especially for hanging out or watching sports. The 6 or 8 beer sampler was really a great way to get the most variety for your buck and the food was OK. Location is also a plus, right on the park. I would go again even though the beer was pretty average.

Busy, noisy place. Average food (although interesting menu, ate bison), average service and average beer. Sampler of 8 beers was a good thing.

This used to be the location I would go to more often but now I don’t go to Union Square quite as much. This place also has two floors and seems a bit more hip than the others. The tanks in the back are cool to see and the staff is pretty friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. All locations are pretty similar with the beers and staff.

Friendly knowledgable staff. Young tourist/NYU crowd. Nice beer memoriabilia. It all adds up to be not bad place. Unfortunately the beer wasn’t stellar, but what great locations these guys have. Right on Union Square next to thier Holiday Fair, down the the road from NYU.

This place is more of a tourist attraction than a brewpub. None of the beers are very good. The only one worth trying (out of the ones I’ve had) is the Farmer Johns Oatmeal Stout. The place has a prime location, so even during the week it’s extremely crowded. Considering this the service is not that bad. The bartender was attentive and helpful in terms of letting me know what beers were available. Decent ambiance with some exposed brick and that "Pizzeria Uno" type of decor. Come here for the New York experience, not for beer seeking...

Wide place in proximity to the East side of Union Square Park. It introduces a long and tightened entrance that drive to the counter and a wide raised balcony-like area used like feeding zone. Much helpful staff with the aliens even if service it’s a lot too slow. Also here you can find the handmade beers of the house with one discreet chosen of foods in the menù list. Enough quiet and not excessive crowded.

Union Square - This was a nice place. Expensive, but in the middle of New York so i cant complain. I had a burger which was good and two of their beers. The bartender was inattentive and wasn’t talkative or helpful.

Two years ago I visited this venue. I remember it was awkward getting in the door, awkward getting seated. I don’t remember the particular beers I hope I enjoyed. The food was ok, at least I don’t recall it being otherwise. The point being that really good places like Maggies up on 45th or so I can definitely recall with some detail. So I must consider this location average.
