JCastner (4), New York does not count - explanation | | August 8, 2008 Decent food, fair beer selection. Not a bad place for a few drinks on the Lower East Side. Cons: Price - $9 for a bottle is a little pricey. | | waolsen (51), Littleton, Colorado | | April 14, 2008 Nice clean bar. 12 taps. Great German Selection(not a selection you see often). I didn’t see a bottle list but what I saw in the fridge looked impressive. Simple bar area with windows opened to the street. Beer garden in back. Food looked authenitc. Beers were awesome. Great proximity to New Beer and Whole Foods. Definitely worth the stop. | | TeamTrappist (11), jericho, New York | | April 2, 2008 Nice looking bar, with some tables in the hallway leading to the back room, which connects to the outdoor garden. The garden is tented in, with a nice amount of seating. The inside is comfortable with nice blonde wooden tables. Beers were all german, with about 12 on tap. We had a nice lunch there, and the food was very good. | | JoeMcPhee (218), Jackson Heights, New York | | October 1, 2007 Long narrow room leading to a bright and fairly large back garden. A good selection of german styles. The kolsch is always in great shape. I’ve never eaten here, but I like the vibe adn it’s a solid place to kick back a few and shoot the shit. It’s located within five minutes of several other good beer bars, so it’s worth a stop on a lower east side/east village pub crawl. | catja666 (1), staten island, New York does not count - explanation | | January 15, 2007 Nice german place. Great selection of beers! I tried their draft beers when I went there, nice change for my usual Heineken :D.
Bartender was very nice and knew quite a lot about beers. | | Probiere (45), Iowa | | January 31, 2006 Nice ambience but the service was slow, the food mediocre (and according to the German gf, unauthentic) and overpriced, and for boasting a large selection of German beers, I picked the only one I hadn’t had before and it sucked! If they claim quality why were they carrying that stuff on tap? | mstecura (2), new york, New York does not count - explanation | | November 10, 2005 Lousy, lousy service but delicious brats, nice garden and a great German beer selection. Although I was disappointed with the Schwarzbier (most definitely infected), overall the beers were good. | | MullMan (28), Bloomfield, New Jersey | | October 29, 2005 this place is right in the bowery, which is a little out-of-the-way from my usual haunts. when you’re strolling through the bowery, you will notice that PUNK’S NOT DEAD! holy mowhawk, there are people who live the NY scum/UK punk scene like it never stopped. I wonder if they’ve been doing this since the 70s. aside from the time warp in the neigborhood, this is a nice unique Kraut joint. wish they would play some Prog Krautrock music - maybe that would get the punks to clean it up a little. but really now, the clientelle here are normal hipsters, even though the place was pretty dead on a late saturday afternoon. cute chickie with ink & hardware served me up a nice Schwarzbier at the front bar, nobody was at the restaurant part. a few were in the back garden. might be bad timing but the place could use a shot in the arm. | Sancho (6), Da Bronx, New York does not count - explanation | | September 24, 2004 stoppd by here during lunch, was really dead, but they had about 12 beers an a bunch of bottles i could’nt prounce but the spaten October’fest was good, huge glass, and the brat was great. gotta go back and have more | | austinpowers (151), New York, New York | | April 7, 2004 [ Updated January 11, 2005 ] Solid German biergarten with a focus on authentic Kolsch beers from Cologne. The atmosphere in the outdoor beer garden is fantastic. Heavily Euro crowd. Check this place out - it’s like Zum Schneider, just without the crowds. Schneider Aventinus comes in a huge ceramic flask, and the berliner weisse comes with your choice of Raspberry or Waldmeister on the side. Classy. | View Page : 1 2
