| diabel (25), Aarschot, Belgium | | March 17, 2012 Great selection of beers from all over the world: a lot of rarities. In general, six packs from small US bottles, large ones can be bought by one (also the small rare bottles). The staff was very helpfull, although I did not have a specific inquiry. Prices are ok. I bought some nice beers to take home with me. | slumme77 (5), Weert, Netherlands does not count - explanation | | February 17, 2012 a lot of choice of excellent foreign and u.s. beers, friendly service, not to expensive.
and really rare beers. | | mcmisko (11), New York | | February 3, 2012 The only place in Manhattan where a beer lover can feel truly excited to find beers they have never seen or tasted before, no matter how much they have tasted. Really, the selection of beer is huge, and the beers are all divided up by countries, which I like. You can find many beers here that you will not find anywhere else in the city, so for that reason, this is a beer lovers best friend. Prices here are not cheap, not considering the price of NYC, they are great, and are better than almost every other place I’ve been to with a comparable selection of beers. This is a family owned place that is friendly, but not too clean and "professional". They do offer beers on tap for growlers, though the selection is usually never very big. I like this place a lot, and it is great to find rare beers (for NYC) at great prices. Check it out, but just don’t take all the rare beers from me, ok? | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | November 8, 2011 CALL AHEAD to see if they are open. Pretty much sporadic hours but they do usually close at 6pm. Almost definitely closed on Sundays. This is a warehouse in the ghetto about 6 blocks south/downtown from Bowery Place Whole Foods. Walk into the small entrance and there are stacks of beers, mostly singles, with an amazing selection. Almost everytime I can here I find something of interest. This past visit I found GI Lolita and GI Madame Rose though they were $14 a bottle. Selection is mostly divided into countries: England, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Italy. Great place to find country ticks as well if you are looking for some oddball ones. Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, etc. Prices are a little higher than I’d like but finding odd rarities makes up for it I think. Very different selection vs. Bowery Whole Foods. Very little overlap so go to both! Service I’m sure is fine but I rated it highly because no one comes up to bother you and ask if they can help. No, I don’t need help. I know exactly what I want. Thank you staff for ignoring me, I was able to take my time here without being harassed. | NaNach (2), , does not count - explanation | | October 11, 2011 Great place to find rare brews in NYC! | | joeneugs (55), Livermore, California | | September 5, 2011 It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside the shelves go for miles with great beer. I was like a kid in a candy store with obviously tons of stuff I can’t get in California. The bottles were arranged neatly and things were easy to find. Not enough cold storage, as it was pretty warm in there on a summer afternoon. The staff was friendly and helpful. The girl behind the counter even went to the back room to look for some stuff I asked about and returned with some Founders Devil Dancer when she couldn’t find the beers I wanted. There’s no abiance here since it’s just a warehouse type place. Prices seemed pretty good to me. It was really cool that they had a growler station as well with a few taps, just too bad they don’t allow tasting. I’m glad I ran into this place. | ChairMissing (7), Brooklyn, New York does not count - explanation | | September 4, 2011 [ Updated September 11, 2011 ] Probably the best bottle shop in New York City. Great selection, great prices, courteous staff (although I’ve gotten the "we don’t have that" line multiple times knowing fully well they did. I’m look at you case of Marshal Zhukov). This is always the first place to go to for beer shopping. | | JCB (120), Durham, North Carolina | | July 17, 2011 Rapidfire visit on the way out of town earlier this year. As most ratings have said, it’s hard not to be impressed both by the cramped and fairly unorganized setting but also by the range and qualities of brews available. I didn’t get a sense of the taps but would have paid more attention had I more time. But a quick tour suggested an impressive range of Belgians particularly (though no Cantiloons, rare or otehrwise), a decent representation of Italians and Scandinavians, and a very nice selection of regional and national U.S. craft brews. Some aged seasonals were mighty tempting, and there was a good deal of Goose Island and Ithaca Excelsior still around too. Folks were friendly and unobtrusively helpful. A goodern! | | Chapel (34), Levittown, New York | | June 23, 2011 Wow. This place is incredible. Sure, it is basically a garage and doesn’t look like much from outside, but on the inside it is a garage full of beer. It is quite possible that ever beer I have ever had is represented here, and then some. I had heard stories and read reviews, but this place is incredible. It is a must visit for anyone visiting Manhattan. | | Niko100 (10), New York | | June 5, 2011 [ Updated September 5, 2011 ] Nothing fancy here (basically a garage) - but it has one of the best beer selections in NYC. You can find some rarities - and they do sell single bottles. Seek this one out. |
