| Elwood (34), Leesburg, Virginia | | August 31, 2009 We went on a Friday night and the place was packed. A little erratic at first since it was our first time we were ever there and no one stopped to tell us anything. I finally stopped a server who informed me that you just grab a seat where ever you can. Luckily two seats opened up at the bar after a few minutes of waiting. They have several of their own beers on tap as well as other locals and a few macros in bottles. The bartenders were friendly and helpful in terms of picking things out on the menu. Great garlic cheese fries and pretty good pizza too. The staff were even helpful about recommending other breweries in Asheville and other restaurants to dine at. All the beers were pretty good and most importantly, virtually everything was sessionable! Definitely worth a stop. | cmillward (6), Orlando, Florida does not count - explanation | | June 24, 2009 A rad, community-centric restaurant with a ton of heart that makes decent beer. They do $3 movies (in a theater where you can enjoy your food and beer), have kids night, support the community and have great personality. I wasn’t overwhelmed with the beer, but its decent, certainly nothing I had was bad. They support other local breweries which is fantastic to see, when we visited they were featuring French Broad’s Rye Hopper on tap. Also, they have an assorted selection of their bottles to go. The pizza is great and our server was knowledgeable about the food and the beer. Definitely will stop by the next time I’m in Asheville. | | maltdog (51), Knoxville, Tennessee | | March 30, 2009 Family-friendly, movie themed brewpub. Movies are shown in the back, with beer and food allowed in the theater. All their beers are pretty good, and the knowledgable staff is happy to pour samples of anything. Some 22-oz bottles availabe to go.Excellent thin crust pizza in infinite custom variations, plus the usual munchies- wings, nachos, etc. Only three TVs next to the bar, showing college sports and muted… an 80s station playing quietly in the background. A roving waitress with a pitcher topped off my IPA (which she recognized by sight.) I’d go back. | | tronraner (100), Seymour, Tennessee | | March 17, 2009 Cool place, a few miles north of downtown. Friendly bartenders and at least a few beers worth trying. Go there for lunch and get the buffet. Not an enormous selection, but man is it a good value. One of these days I’ll actually go there at night for a pizza and a movie. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | March 6, 2009 Located a bit north of town. Lots of parking, so that shouldn’t be an issue. The main thing here is the vibe. With games, kid friendly movies, etc., you’ll almost definitely be reviewing your beers around families. Taking beer notes while next to two kids playing Battleship was a little bit strange. My server was very nice. She didn’t know much about the beer but did go to the brewmaster to answer my questions. And she hooked me up with samples of all nine of their beers on tap for free... before she knew I would be ordering food even! The beer, sadly, was fairly pedestrian, though it’s all drinkable. The menu is reasonably priced and imaginative, but sadly, not really that good. I wouldn’t put this high on your list of places to go unless you have kids or you have a few days in Asheville. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | December 7, 2008 This is the coolest place ever! There are so many random pieces of art and other junk on the walls, you could spend a week just looking at it all. Terrific tasting, reasonably priced pizza. The only downside: even though their beers are inexpensive, they are not all that great. Just your average brews. But the theater plus the game room make this place a standard for all the locals. Good luck finding a table, they seem to stay busy all the time. Not a true *beer* destination, but certainly a good time. I cannot wait to go back! | | dchmela (52), Orlando, Florida | | September 8, 2008 Good little place to stop and sample. Pizza was decent and the Shiva IPA was fairly good. On the flip side, the back area where the video games and such are kind of resembles a Chuck e Cheese. Worth a stop if in town. | | beerguy101 (47), Newark, California | | June 3, 2008 Funky little Brewpub. Decent menu. Murals on the walls and tiles with movies that have been shown in the theatre adorn the entrance. I wonder if it was because all their beers were under 6.2%, but they were all pretty much ‘brewpub standard’. I was able to get a sampler of all their beer, before selecting a pint. The pizza was very good. Nice laid-back atmosphere, the wait staff was attentive without hovering. Well worth the trip. | azazel24 (4), does not count - explanation | | April 10, 2008 great little local place to go and chill with the locals. loved all the arkwork everywhere and the pizza toppinig are like nothing i’ve ever seen before. would recommend to anyone | 37steel (4), St. Charles, Illinois does not count - explanation | | March 3, 2008 Top-notch place to go and have a good beer. Besides thier own they had a GREAT selection of other beers (can you say Chimay). Pizza was great, loved their selection of weird toppings. Did not see a movie, but that must be pretty cool as well. |
