| darn1207 (24), Tallahassee, Florida | | July 6, 2009 stopped on a brief asheville trip. had an ok selection. wanted to find some of the local fare and seemed a little slimmer than expected. one of the catawawba’s on tap, one pisgah, a few other carolina brews - but lacking. otherwise had a fairly straightforward selection of american craft brew. we ate dinner and the food was pretty good. waiter didn’t know anything about the beer though. ok overall. | | phaleslu (88), Cincinnati, Ohio | | July 1, 2009 Good beer selection overall, though the taps didn’t offer much that wasn’t at Barley’s or Mellow Mushroom. Slow service and a little pricier than the other bars in town. Still definitely worth a stop on an Asheville bar tour. | | agl108 (26), Manayunk, Pennsylvania | | June 23, 2009 Stop #4 of Asheville bar tour. This place had the best beer selection of any bar I visited in Asheville. Tons of local beers here but also the best selection of other American micros. Crowd seemed different here than the other bars - more frat guy type of place. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | March 8, 2009 Within walking distance of several other Asheville stops. Not really much of a taphouse vibe, as it seems to be in an office building, but windows in the front did lead to a nice, open feel. My server was helpful, very knowledgeable about the beer list and exceptionally friendly, and I overheard the server of the table next to me also being friendly. They have lots of regional craft beer on tap, including some lesser available local beer, as well as lots of US and foreign selections. While I only had North Carolina beers while there, the tab only came to about $10 which was nice. I did not take advantage of the food menu. Definitely a recommended stop. | | swoopjones (115), Buffalo, New York | | November 18, 2008 stopped in for a couple. Nice tap & bottle selection. DFH, Pisgah, locals like Catawba, French Broad, Highland. Knowledgable staff. Menu looked decent but didnt indulge | | dchmela (52), Orlando, Florida | | September 8, 2008 Decent place with a nice selection of local micros and imports, although I was hoping for a bigger german selection. Food was nice and tasty as well as very good servers. It just didn’t stand out as someplace I must go to again. | | TURDFERGUSON (38), Carrboro, North Carolina | | August 31, 2008 Pretty decent selection in a bar that almost feels like its in the middle of a mini-mall. Service has never been that bad for me here, but I’ve only been twice so I don’t have too much experience with it. | Qwasnoid (1), Asheville, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | June 8, 2008 Horrible service. I’ve been 4 times, and every time I go the bartenders have been unneccessarily rude. Besides that, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Great place to visit maybe if you’re from out of town. After repeated visits, its trendiness wears off. I swear I will never go again. | | Nate (194), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | May 22, 2008 Stopped in for a beer after some shopping. Nice selection of imports, micros, and local beers. Good service. Kind of a sports bar feel, a little dark. Do have some smokers in there, too. | | fluffy (19), Florida | | April 6, 2008 we went on a drizzly sunday afternoon right after xmas, so you can imagine it was pretty dead. we were seating inside. as i saw the fratboy-looking waiter approach, i thought i wasn’t going to get a good recommendation from him based on my preferences. boy, shows you dont judge a book by its cover. the guy knew me exactly the right thing (Delerium Tremens), and a couple of other good belgian ales i hadnt tried before. service suffered a little as the place got a little more busy, but still a pretty good experience. the food was pretty good, nothing special. prices were about where they should be. i will definitely be back, and when a beer urge calls, its will be my go-to place. |
