Made a point to stop in on my way through on I-40. Located in a new strip center that also houses Piedmont Ale House. Very nice and knowledgeable proprietor. Not much I haven’t seen in Asheville, Charlotte or Durham except for a few regionals, but good prices on all. So I still found a few things that I hadn’t seen before as well as a few bargains.

Great little shop, but hard to find. I think they could easily triple profits in a better high traffic area. Look for the Piedmont Ale House then go to the bottom of the parking lot. Very good selection for the make-your-own-6-pack and owner seems to have a pretty good knowledge of different beers from all over the world. If you dont bring the internet with you, theres beer advocate webpage printouts on every beer he has in stock in a notebook. Great Idea! Some really good beers are sold here for half the price you can find them on the internet. Hes got a lot of empty space so I’m sure if business picks up he’ll have even a better selection. I’m from about 3 hours away, here on business. If I lived local, I’m sure I could spend a lot of money here.

Service is good but its a new place so theres not much to it. Service is good, but theres not much there. However, out of what is there there are good choices. Cant really complain since hes actually trying in the middle of the ’desert’.

My first visit here, but it won’t be my last. Had a nice talk with Michael, the owner. It’s only been open 3 months, and he is carefully increasing the selection. Total of 300-400 beers at present. Nice sampling of NC regionals, American craft brews, Belgians, etc. Nothing extremely rare, but I wouldn’t expect that. Everything is also available in six packs or singles, and the store is nicely laid out. He indicated that he was willing to order beers that customers requested. He’s also recieving some good support from the Elon University community, and is located just off campus, He’s also has three beer clubs that he is running, so the interest is there. I’m looking froward to this place improving as time goes by, and it’s already pretty good. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. As a bonus, it’s in the same shopping center sas the Piedmont Ale House, a pretty decent pub., so you can stop there for some food and a couple of brews, then walk across the parking lot to Top Brews. Revisited in Jan 08. Unfortunately, the selection does not seem to be any better than it was when I first visited. In fact, I think there are fewer beers available, 200 at best would be my estimate. I hope he gets things turned around.

Nice place. I think 500 bottles is a bit of an over statement. More like 250. The owner told me that the store was going to up the offerings tot he 600 range and wine. He is very knowlegdable. I was very impressed with his beer knowledge. Service was great and the big shocker to me was that the prices were right on. No gouging going on here. This is something the triad needed was a decent good beer store. Once the offerings increase sometime in August 2007, should prove to be a hell of a good store.
