| TheOrange (13), Kent, Ohio | | December 28, 2008 On a recent trip to the Greensboro area, I finally got to get to Natty Greenes. This is a beautifully kept old building. The place was busy, but there was enough room to move between tables and get to the bar. We sat upstairs at the Bar. Right next to the bar was the working dumb waiter that the staff used to move food up and dishes down. It really added to the old feeling of the establishment. We did not eat while at Nattys, but the food looked good. The portions seemed to be over sized. The staff was incredibly helpful. My companion and I had cigars, but had forgotten the cutter. The bar keepers informed us that they had just lost their usual cigar cutter. The then asked the other bar patrons, with cigars, if they had a cutter. After that didnt produce a cutter, the brought us a large kitchen cutting board, and an extremely sharp knife. No for the beer. The selection had all their usual beers, but they had about 6 seasonal beers on tap too. They were very willing to give samples of the seaso | LawBadger (4), Greensboro, North Carolina does not count - explanation | | November 29, 2008 A very nice brewery and restaurant. A good menu with fairly standard pub fare that is very good. Service is usually very fast and not much of a wait for a table (if any). If you are looking for just drinks, the upstairs is your best bet. Very good selection of beer with nice selection of seasonals - make sure to grab a growler to go. Thursty Thursdays are great with $2 pints. My favorite place for dinner and drinks in Greensboro. | CaptainChaos (3), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | September 22, 2008 Good bar with a laid-back, college atmosphere. I went to UNCG, so it was where my friends and I went almost every weekend. | | freekyp (27), Thomasville, North Carolina | | September 13, 2008 [ Updated October 11, 2008 ] Cool little pub that also bottles. Has a big beer tun on a stand right outside. Great patio seating. Upstairs bar is large and has lots of seating. Tends to fill up quickly. There is almost always a wait for dinner, but not very long. They’ve got a really interesting selection of sandwiches, and there’s not a bad one on the menu. That being said, you MUST try their hot dog. This is the single best hot dog on the planet. Their brew is consistent and all are good, but they have too many similar beers. Lots of different flavors of pale ale. Would like to see more variety. | | dkachur (44), Charlottesville, Virginia | | April 27, 2008 Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Bar-style food is pricy, but well better than average for your typical brewpub. Large selection of regulars and seasonals. No sampler, but the bartender did offer to let me try some, and they offer a 5 oz. (taster) for $1.50. Pints are priced well. They offer growlers to go. Cheap municipal parking across the street is 50 cents per hour or free weekends and any day after 6PM. Nice little gem of a place. | | ross (41), charlotte, North Carolina | | March 2, 2008 Went here last night my first time going to this place. They had a decent amount of beer on tap, and it was a crowded pub type atmosphere. The hostest wasnt the friendliest girl I have ever met, and the service from the wait staff was so so. Food was decent, but I would not say it was great. The beers were good. Middle of the road pub really. | | kseecs16 (94), Westmont, Illinois | | November 23, 2007 Went in for an early dinner and some drinks while in town on business. November 2007. 5 regular beers and 8 seasonal listed, only 6 seasonals were available. Nice, relaxed atmosphere in a cool old building. Food was good, and a good value. Service was efficient. I’d be a regular if I lived here. Beers were solid, nothing knocked me out. | | OldGrowth (106), the Contaiment Area, North Carolina | | October 26, 2007 [ Updated November 6, 2007 ] Got there a little after the lunch rush on a thursday afternoon. Nice place, Downstairs has high ceilings, lots of wood, floors, ceiling, and brick. Dining area in front and bar is toward the back where you can see the brewery. Downstairs is non smoking. Upstairs is smoking area, I didn’t venture up there. Big windows look out side and a big mural on wall depicting old Greensboro, I assume. There is an outdoor patio, but it was raining so I didn’t venture out there. Service was good, but it’s not like the place was full at that point. We, the wife & I, both got burgers, Good burgers, so-so rolls. The home made potato chips were tasty. We go the Hummas plate as an appetizer. I liked it, though it had some curry mixed in and wife didn’t like that. I did. I had the ESB & American Rye ale. Wife got the amber. All good, the ESB darn good. Sampled the gunsmith dark munich lager which I don’t see listed here. Gotta add that. Got a growler of the Dipa & Dunkelwiezen to go. Well worth a visit if you’re in there area. I tried to go here before the Van Halen show but they had a 1 1/2 hour wait at that point, 530-600pm Saturday night, so it gets crowded at peak times. | | jrob21 (42), Atlanta, Georgia | | October 8, 2007 Old skewl building with multiple stories, multiple bars, foosball, pool, etc. Bumping night life and plenty of good beers for whatever style you like. Hit this place at midnight on a Friday and it was packed but service was still great. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food but the beers are the best this town has to offer as far as I’m concerned. I’m a history nerd too so love the names of these guys’ beers. They are pretty good too. | | DragonStout (57), Orlando, Florida | | September 25, 2007 Stopped here on the way to Brewsgrass 07.sat at the bar where we had great service. It was lunch time and was quite busy. The feel of the place was cozy and inviting. On this day they had 5 of their regular beers on tap and 6 seasonals.Had some lunch there which was bangin.I had also met one of the brewers who had us sample a brew not out yet. Very cool place to visit. The food was much better than the beer. | View Page : 1 2 3
