Walked here from our hotel on the Friday before the WBF. We liked the place immediately - the old building is cool and has lots of character. The Bartender wasfairly knowledgible, and whenm he discovered I was a beer geek, he found a few not on the menu items. Plus, Expedition on draft...

I do miss this place if you love Belgian beer and good sandwiches (or pub food!) then this is the place to go. Groovy atmosphere (an old newspaper) and fun servers. The Belgian bottle menu is truly something to behold. I remember a feeling of shock (in a good way) the first time I beheld it. Always fun draughts as well, if somewhat limited in scope.
A bit pricey, but that’s in keeping with Raleigh in general way too overpriced on all counts. Too many young lawyer-types with too much money to spend does not a reasonable city make.

I was very impressed with this place. The bottled beer selection was quite impressive, especially the Belgians. The atmosphere is great, and the bartender was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The only negative thing I can say is that the beer (mostly just the Belgians) was very expensive--however some of the high gravs were reasonably priced for a big bottle.

nothing like 15 dollar bison farhouse ale. this place is the most expensive place in raleigh for beer! HI-5 on mondays has a special where EVERY bottled beer is 3 bucks!

Really interesting place. One of the first bars in Raleigh that is offering a nice selection of Belgians. The service is somewhat slow and they seems to be out of a lot of beers, but the food is really awesome - try the guacamole after 5pm.

This place, when not too busy, is just freakin’ awesome. Only a few beers on tap but one is La Chouffe (!) and yes, they serve it in a sniffer. Officially my first Belgian style beer on tap. Anyway, their bottled beer list is just ridiculous, including 32 (!) Belgian style beers. Awesome. If you like Belgians and you are in Raleigh, you owe it to yourself to visit this place. The space itself is the restored interior of the old Raleigh Times newspaper building, high ceilings and low light; real tasteful and cool. Food is a bit overpriced but tasty and interesting for bar food. Longways cut pickle chips are the highlight here.
