| gary07734 (23), , England | | November 8, 2009 Been in here a few times, I don’t really think of it as a proper beer place, just a decent pub in York with a few ales. Usually very busy and does pub food on a busy tourist street. Nothing to write home about. | | ALLOVATE (52), Perth, Australia | | August 26, 2006 In amongst the nook and crannies, and rickety old wood bolstered up, down and across the walls is a charming centre long-bar leading through to a tight courtyard come beer garden. It feels and smells old and the patrons seem to be ageing with it. Only a few cask ales behind the bar with your usual display of Strongbow/Guinness/Heineken, etc. Only stopped for a quick pint so I didn’t get much of a look around. Quiet, serious drinkers pub with an old world charm. Alright for a look-see, not much else. | | caesar (119), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | | January 31, 2006 Said to be the oldest pub in York, located in the city centre at an old Roman street. I visited this place in 2004 when me and jerohen were travelling through England and Scotland. Quite large pub, not a lot of rare beers i guess, but still i added a couple of the draft beers to my ratings. Too bad the television was playing loud, with some soapseries for a couple of hours... |
