English type bar/library with a decent selection of Norwegian micros, 3 on tap at my visit. Food available from next door restaurant, very good burger. Good selection of bottled beers as well, and service minded staff.

A centrally located bar in English Chesterfield style with a good bootle selection of world beers and Nøgne Ø, Ægir and Beer Here on tap when I was here today. After a few suggestions of his own, the bar keeper took an interest in the beer-food match of the Lervig Winter Ale that I ordered to match an entercote that I ate next door. Worked splendidly, by the way. Kontoret has an agreement with a restaurant (Nye Dickens) next door, and you can get your food in the restaurant, and get beer from Kontoret and eat where you like.

A very central located pub that would remind you of an old english pub with nice furnitures and decoration. Very cozy. Decent beers on tap and a fair selection of bottled beers in a good range of beer styles. Proper food also. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Located on the bottom of "Torgallmenningen" this is a easy-to find (not that the ratebeer map is a good friend here). The first floor, where you enter, is decorated with classic chesterfield furniture. If you can get a seat this can be a nice place to watch football (they have two big TV’s) The staff is really polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Have yet not tried the food there, but the pub is connected to the resturant "Dickens" where they have quite eatable food. The prices are also quite alright (keep in mind this is Norway) A nice place to discover some rarities (as I recently have) and well worth a visit if you are in Bergen.

A rather cozy bar located bam smack in the middle of Bergen. With its heavy wooden furniture and rustic charm it somewhat resembles a old library or English pub. The flat screens somewhat destroys that image but still. A rather nice selection both on tap and bottle. Try the burger if you stop by.

Nice place with good food and okay beer selection. They also have a good whisky selection for those who appreciate that. The prices are quite stiff, which I guess isn’t unrelated to the place’s "old man" clientell.

A nice little bar connected to the bigger restaurant "Dickens" around the corner. Kontoret (meaning "The Office") is a classic library-style pub, with heavy wooden furniture and mahogany-oak-and-brass style interiors. Ok atmosphere which is occasionally thwarted because of the oversized TVs showing soccer games from time to time, which is annoying for anyone not interested and clashing with the general majestic atmosphere of the pub. This aside, the bar staff is very friendly and forthcoming, and is knowledgeable about their selection. Kontoret has all the staples from Nøgne Ø and Haandbryggeriet, as well as some Ægir on tap and bottles. A decent bottle range fills one of the shelf section, mostly well-known stuff from Vinmonopolet but also some rarities like BrewDog’s Sink the Bismarck - priced in the horrid Norwegian tradition, of course. Kontoret also boasts a large collection of whisky and cognacs. I never had the food there, so I can’t be the judge of that but it’s probably decent enough. An ok place to drop by for a quick beer due to an extremely central location next to Hotel Norge in the very locus of Bergen. Worth checking out if you can avoid the soccer nights.

Library style bar with dark woods, a strong list of single malts, lots of Nøgne Ø beers and almost as many from Haandbryggeriet. Food in the Dickens restaurant than makes up the rest of the building. Spoiled only by having two large TV screens imposing two guys’ football preferences on fifteen disinterested others. I agree with the comments about knowledgeable staff. New guy on his first day could say something sensible about most of the micros. Good selection for Norway.

Charming, quite and cozy small bar central located in Bergen, visited a calm Tuesday afternoon in June. Reminds me a bit of a British gentlemen club (not thinking of a go-go bar!). 52 bottles and 3 taps is a great selection compared with most other Norwegian bars. The friendly waitress had a surprisingly good knowledge of what see served. Could not ask for much more.
