78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Foffern (27) Bergen, Norway | March 25, 2013 A somewhat anonymous entrance from a backyard lead you down a staircase with brewing vessels in all kinds of places. Suddenly the premises is revealed as a 1500-century vaulted cellar with bricks and with a giant fireplace in the back. Rustic wood furniture is placed as a bench rows along the aisle in a church where you can drink beer at long tables in groups. That’s what I call a proper beer cellar!
Nothing is better than coming in from the winter cold in the capital and sit down in a warm, good cellar and feel the blissful atmosphere with a good beer in your hand. From the bar you can order from around 15 taps which five are brewed on site. If this is not enough, they have a solid beer meny of bottled with about 50 + different beers. What is also encouraging is that they serve in halfpints so you can taste a little of everything in one night. A fun discovery was that they sold beer also in 3 or 5 liter, or how much it was, tower where you could tap the beer from the bottom and share with the rest of the table. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 gyllenbock (104) Stockholm, Sweden | February 21, 2013 Visited for the first time on a Tuesday evening in February 2013. It took me about 15 minutes to walk to this place from Radisson Plaza Hotel at the Train station.
I liked the ambiance of this place, cellar vault and everything. It was quite crowded during my visit, still friendly service from the guy behind the bar. I tried five reasonable large samples of their own beers. Worth a visit.
| 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 RawKuz (11) , Norway | February 20, 2013 Brewpub inn Oslo with an impressive servingplace. The place was av bit hard to find when youre not known to the area. But well inside, the place is outstanding! Huge fireplace makes it extremely cozy, and the stalls are great. Was a bit dissapointed with the Beer menu, but Had some great beers after all. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 gunnfryd (15) Kristiansand, Norway | November 17, 2012 Nice selection of high quality beers at taps. Have a feeling that the staff and the customers like facebook. But the taps are so good that this is a place you must visit in Oslo. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 Burba (2) , Norway | October 21, 2012 Nice place, nice beers, worth to visit | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | August 13, 2012 Basically, this is dope place with its own beer. I never went to the restaurant part... whereever that might have been, but I did go to the semi-cylindrical beer hall underground. It looks like a little brick tube with over-sized wooden tables. The bartender was not too friendly, but he answered the questions that I had. The place was rather full on both occasions that I made a visit there. The beers were good. The ambiance unique. The value satisfactory for Norway. I am approve. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 10/20 Tsk_man (2) Oslo, Norway | August 11, 2012 Good selection of homebrewed beers. Also exciting mixture of other beers on tap. Could possibly have had a few more beers on bottle though, but the stock changes frequently, so you will almost always find something you haven’t tried before. The pub is located in a cellar, so natural sunlight is not something you will see, but in the dark Norwegian winter you get a warm and cosy atmosphere. There’s even a fireplace. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | May 1, 2012 If you want something to eat, stop at themain restaurant or sit outside. If you’re interested in beer, pass through the courtyard under the arch, and go to the cellar. No food here, but they have a great selection of their own beers, of course, plus a handful from around Norway and Denmark. Service is outstanding, and the locals are friendly. Worth going out of your way to try. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Rachelo (3) Oslo, Norway | April 6, 2012 Love the feeling of beer camaraderie while drinking in this place. Quite noisy but friendly and cozy. I will be returning here many a time. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 14/20 madmitch76 (78) , England | March 31, 2012 Very atmospheric bar (go down the stairs) - must be a converted cellar or something. Great old fireplace which was lit and provided further ambience.
Was able to try the 5 Schous brews via the tasting size glasses which kept the ruinous Norwegian expense down. Good beers all.
A thoroughly diverting place which I really liked. About 15 mins walk from the centre of town - best combined with a trip to Gronerlokka. |
