4 reviews for Ohio Brewing Co.
| DragonStout (73), Pataskala, Ohio | | August 16, 2009 This didn’t look like your typical brewpub. This was fairly large place. They only had 5 of their brews on which were solid. Most people there were macro crap drinkers. The server was friendly and let us try some of the smokin Scotch mash which was tasty.Overall if you are heading thru Akron I would suggest stopping here. | | BeerVirgin72 (75), Pataskala, Ohio | | August 14, 2009 Stopped in here after a visit to Hoppin Frog. Very easy to find. Parking was a bit more tricky. Nice location. Interior was HUGE but a bit, sterile, I guess...They werent too crowded on a Friday afternoon, so maybe thats what I as reading. Just didnt have a Brew Pub feel. Bartenders were all very young but very nice. We ordered only the sampler. All the beers were average, and a few slightly above. Ineresting little place, but definitely have some areas they could improve. | KenStage (3), Ohio does not count - explanation | | July 5, 2009 Nice location, down the street from the Akron Arrow Ballpark (Indians Double A Team) -
Stopped before the game for a quick one.
The Stout had some sort of fermentation problem that left it too foamy (not the usual thick stout head) and sour.
My brother had a Maple porter, that was better, but still had a strange sourness.
| | MikeF (95), Cleveland, Ohio | | May 18, 2008 [ Updated June 14, 2008 ] Recently opened in the renovated O’Neil’s department store building next to the Barley House. A very large, open microbrewery/restaurant. Interestingly, Damon’s Grille (the franchise) is predominately operating the food services, while Ohio Brewing is serving up their own brews and other drinks. However, there is an additional Ohio Brewing Co. food menu which is more limited, but a little fancier than the standard Damon’s offerings. A unique collaboration. As you enter there is a large bar in front of which is the brewing equipment on display through the front windows. Further back is a large amount of restaurant type seating. The ceilings are high with numerous flags hung about. More importantly, however, are the numerous large HDTVs which are easily seen form almost any angle. There is a large loft overlooking the bar area. They have 6-8 of their own beers on draft including 2 seasonals. No other interesting beers to speak of at this point. Their beer is good, but so far fairly standard in their offerings so far. The food is good and the Ohio Brewing Co. food we tried seemed better than the Damon’s offerings. A great addition to Downtown Akron. A great pre.post Aeros game or Lock 3 event stop. |
