| Aurelius (88), Tallahassee, Florida | | September 20, 2008 Very accessible. A small converted garage right on High street - about halfway from OSU to downtown Columbus. Parking sucks on the street, but you should be able to get a free park on the street about two blocks east. Huge selection - the bottle/tap selection is about as advertised. You can’t really see the taps, easily, but you can go back and peruse the bottle selection in the cooler. This place was jam packed around 7 on a Thursday night - college kids, grad students mostly. Small patio. The cheese plate was a little skimpy, but it was good. | PecoKid (5), does not count - explanation | | August 24, 2008 Made the 12 block trek from downtown one night after a conference. This place was packed with coeds. Service was awful because the place was so packed. I heard their happy hour is half price drafts from 4 to 8 pm. I got that price on one of my beers but not the other. Dozens of taps. I can’t rate the food because my group would not be able to get a table for over an hour. We quaffed 2 standing in the doorway and went to Barley’s instead. | columbusbodega (1), columbus, Ohio does not count - explanation | | August 22, 2008 just a little puzzled by the last review...sucking ass and such...we offer 50 beers on a draft and nearly 150 bottles. The crowd is usually as diverse (young, old, gay, straight, black, white) as the short north itself. I wonder if googlyglurp was having a rough day. | | Glouglouburp (144), Montreal, Quebec | | May 17, 2008 This place is pretty bad. Tap selection (about 10 taps) are mainly occupied by American Classics such as Pabst Blue Ribbon and such. There is a bottle fridge in the back of the bar where you can pick a bottle from a standard Ohio selection of Great Lakes and friends. Young drunken crowd. This place sucks ass. | | Rogueone (20), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio | | April 17, 2008 Bodega is awesome for a beer lover who also happens to be an art lover. 50 taps, very good food, and they are constantly rotating new taps in. Moreover, all drafts are half off weekdays until 8pm. What keeps me from going every day, is that, the service has never been great especially on the weekends and it is extremely difficult to find a seat during busy bar times. Cool thing about this place is that they have a featured brewery every month - the last couple have included Great Lakes and Stone. The atmosphere is artsy and the crowd is trendy sort of like every other place in this district. | BuckeyeSammy (6), New York City, New York does not count - explanation | | April 5, 2008 The new and greatly improved bodega has 50 microbrew taps. Nothing crazy here but i always find a jem. Monday nights are dollar grilled cheese and happy hour weeknights with half price drafts. Bodega has always been a hipster hangout, but still deffinately worth a visit. | oldeprop (1), Bexley, Ohio does not count - explanation | | February 22, 2008 [ Updated March 2, 2008 ] best selection in town..... and half-price happy hour! dont expect any pubgrub here, no loaded nachos wings or cheese fries, kitchen is small and oriented to small artsy sandwiches and pizza. Parking is an issue in Short North. | TyRip (1), Canton, Ohio does not count - explanation | | February 7, 2008 How can you not love a place that has Old Rasputin, Breakfast Stout, Oak Aged Yeti, Brooklyn Monster, and more on TAP!? They even sell half pints of some of their beers, which is great for tasting all that wonderful goodness, and from 4-8 they had everything on draft half price. Are you joking? This was an awesome stop. I am so glad I checked ratebeer before I went out to eat. The service was above average, the food was great, and it just doesn’t get much better than the beer they offer. Definitely recommended. | | Dogbrick (188), Columbus, Ohio | | January 8, 2008 (Visited 06/2006): Bodega is a newer pub in the Short north near the High/3rd street intersection. Parking is pretty easy to find in either a nearby pay lot or on the street (there is even some free street parking right across the street).
The interior is open and has a cool 50s living room look. Brick on some walls and staggered wood panelling on others, with tables and benches along the walls in powder blue and rough wood. Interesting art on the walls too. The bar is in the back with a clear view of the beers in the cooler. They also have a patio for the warmer months.
The beer selection is pretty good. There are about 6 draughts with Bell’s being one of the standouts. As for bottles, there is a hearty selection from Stone, Bell’s, GLBC, Rogue, Lagunitas and more. Plenty to keep a beer lover’s interest.
Service here is good, although my visit was on a Monday at lunch so there were relatively few customers.
Bodega has a focus on panini, with lots of different choices in toppings and style of bread. Both the grilled cheese on italian and the grilled chicken on focaccia were great.
Overall this is another fine addition to the Short North area. It is practically across the street from another newer bar with great beers and food - Surly Girl Saloon. I would like to see this trend continue. | | sliffy (86), Columbus, Ohio | | November 10, 2007 Bodega is a newer bar in the Short North. A couple years old now, they recently expanded their tap list to 50 beers. Aside from a macro or two and a couple common imports it’s a very nice list of craft beers. The hi-light on my visit being Founder’s Breakfast Stout. The interior seems very fitting for the area, very trendy, but it works. I was in for lunch and got a good panini, my friend got a one of their pizzas which was also very good. They had some more eclectic stuff on there as well.
The rest of the selection is a nice sampling of micro brews, basically running the range of what Ohio has to offer, though I don’t think they carry any AleSmith. Their import list could use some work, but it’s solid.
Overall it was a very nice stop, I’ll definitely be back. | View Page : 1 2
