Little beverage store, mostly wine but the owner stocks a rather decent selection of good brews. It’s a little cramped inside but what a small price to pay for some good choices among sixers, singles, and bombers. The selection doesn’t seem to rotate as much as I’d like it to, but there is usually something new there or at least something I missed from the last visit. It appears that this is run by a father/son team and they are both rather friendly. Better prices can be found elsewhere on some of the stock, but for the most part it’s a fair value

Portage Beverage is located about 2.5 miles from "The Strip", on the border between Canton and Massillon. It shares a small plaza with an ice cream shop and a women’s fitness center (insert "what is the deal..." joke here). Low traffic area so parking should not be an issue.
The store inside is small and borderling claustrophobic, mostly due to the fact that most of the space is crammed with shelves full of wine and beer. All of the beer is on the left side of the store and the majority of it is in coolers.
As for the beers, the selection is fair. GLBC, Thirsty Dog, Two Brothers,Sleeman and Stone (including one-offs) are all pretty well represented along with some other micros. The imports and singles are pretty scarce though.
The service here is good. Shelf tags are deployed and the proprietor was quick to ask if I was looking for anything in particular. He let me know they get new beers in weekly. Very personable fellow, and I got the impression the beer selection will continue to improve.
Overall this spot is kind of an oasis out on Portage Road and is worth a stop if you are in the immediate area.
