| j12601 (52), Poughkeepsie, New York | | November 27, 2009 Stopped in for a few beers and a bite to eat. While they didn’t offer a sampler or do half pours, at 3.26 for a 12oz, I was fine ordering those and not caring if I finished them all. The beers ran the gamut from boring pale lagers (which were obviously the top seller and most popular) to some actually good beers, with two excellent one-off/seasonals (a pumpkin and a porter). Food was good and reasonably priced, service was fairly quick, and the atmosphere and feel of the place were excellent, though it was middle of the afternoon on a weekday so not crowded, just laid back with the workers having a good time. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | August 22, 2009 Visited on a quiet, hot Friday afternoon in mid-August, the garage door was wide open and the only shade to be found was inside or under one of a couple umbrella tables outside, all of which were taken. We didn’t stay long at all, just tried a couple of samples and a pop and melted back into the air-conditioned car -- perhaps rude of us, I know, but as someone nearby commented, who doesn’t put on the AC in a heatwave and then expect us to happily stay and swelter? 4 taps were on, the two lagers were in good (if boring) shape. Must go back for a proper re-rate, but probably in finer weather. | | Sammy (273), Toronto, Ontario | | July 2, 2009 Very decent place to enjoy a drink, they had more wine and hard booze selection than beer here, but will be adding 1-2 guest taps. Decent parking and patio on reviving Queen Street. Very nice wood bar, with 8 spots. Children allowed. Live music with a family environment. Very good service, Taps is putting a lot of effort to make this succeed. Their beer is decent on tap, and brings out different nuances. Exciting to have 2 Niagara Falls brewpubs open in the same week and I hope both will succeed. |
