RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
English ale brewpub whose seasonals seem to all be made year-round now. Spacious pub, with multiple rooms. Wedged under a small office building in what is North Toronto (actually almost dead centre if you look at the map). There are a couple of Granites in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well. A little off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. TTC: Eglinton Station, then walk east for 5 mins to Mt. Pleasant.
Your Opinions - Place info very fresh - it's been rated recently

robinvboyer | pretty dingy place, the carpet was beyond filthy, kinda gross in some places really. The place need a real clean up. The beer was very very nice though, a wicked english IPA on cask was superb, and the growler of peculiar i brought home was fantastic, i say stick to getting their beers in growlers and avoid the pub itself.

| Spab | Nice selection of beers, including some seasonals (the Summer Ale had just returned when I was there this weekend). 2 good sized patios - one on Mt. Pleasant out front and a quieter leafier one in the back. Front area of the building is nice and cozy back dining room really needs to be updated. Service is consistently solid. Haven’t had a lot of food there, but what I have had has been good (especially the Stout Drunken Burger) and there are lots of choices.

| Blasphemies | Really like the beers here, the bitters for me. Service is always good. Food is much above pub average. The only thing I don’t like is the atmosphere. Not very puby for me, but I do like the front patio in the summer to people watch at the busy intersection. Others might like the secluded back patio better.

garthicus | Popped in on a Friday evening around 4pm, I was one of only 3 customers, nice cosy place, I sat at the bar, chewed the fat with the barman, sampled some of their beers, whilst I didn’t eat, I did see someone being served Fred Flintstone proportioned ribs! Looked and smelled good. Awesomely cheap growlers for filling and taking home, all in all a nice couple of hours were spent here

JAF737300 | OK ambience, with some service that was nice but not too informative. The beer is decent and the food is better than average.

jerc | 2007 - Update. Service here has always been fantastic. Beers vary, I quite like the Peculiar when its at its best. The best bitter and best Bitter Special are also quite nice. Food is excellent comfort grub and even better still at their beer dinners. If you have been to the Halifax Granite, you haven’t really been to the Granite until you have had the beers in Toronto. VASTLY superior here in my opinion, and are served in much better condition. The beer may not be knock your socks off quadruple IPA stuff but its a fantastic place for a session, that I wish was closer to my usual haunts so as to facilitate more frequent visits. Recommended.
2004 - Beers are all very nice flavour wise, but uniformly too thin bodied for my taste. Ambiance is adequate. Food is likewise, but leaps towards greatness on the nights they host beer banquets.

Bobsy | The Granite Brewery has great beer, and consistently good pub food (they mean it when they say the hot wings are hot), however I find the ambiance too sterile. Part of the bar feels like a stuffy restaurant and the other half feels like a newly constructed attempt at an old looking bar. Still highly recommended for the beer though.

mabel | Have been here several times though the most recent was earlier this month. Our group of ten merrily celebrated a birthday in the restaurant part at the back, an area with lots of tables and other dinner seekers, plus some brewing equipment behind glass at the side. Service was wonderfully accomodating, even bringing sour cream bowls for the little one in the stroller, and took care of our dinner orders efficiently. Beer selection is broad in styles and tasty, all are pretty decent but the bitters are particularly good (and so is their own root beer). Food menu is also broad if typical for a restaurant/pub, and has consistently been of decent quality. Overall, a great British-style setting definitely worth visiting if in the area.

mephisto | a solid place with very a friendly waiter. the food is decent for its price and it’s very close to mount pleasant cemetary, where glenn gould lies. the selection is not much, only their own beers, but it’s enough for one trip.
