kivaerijo (5), nashville, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | July 16, 2009 stairs are not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. view is great. staff was friendly. it was a wednesday around 7-8 oclock. was not that busy. walked in and had a few employees stare at us until someone eventually sat us. (think it was the water girl)
ordered an ipa and wife ordered a coke.
water had 4 ice cubes in it (thought i was in europe). the coke was flat, and the ipa was average to decent. (aroma was good, but finished a little harsh)
ordered steak tips and a burger. took a little while to get our food, and when it came, there was a hair on the burger bun. let it go. the fries were warm, but just barely. the steak was a little over cooked and was hard to cut with my butter knife. the burger looked like a pre packaged burger that was terribly dry.
we only ate about half our meal. and for the level of the food, was way over priced. maybe it was a bad day.
once again, staff was nice, view was great, and the girl who kept filling my water, was the only one really on the ball. | | dkoonce (25), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio | | August 20, 2008 Very neat pub overlooking the Columbia river. The beers were generally good and the food on par with bar food. Prices were reasonable. | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | August 3, 2008 Had an enjoyable experience here. I’ve been here several times and the service is always hit or miss. They always have on a few standards and some rock solid seasonals, which is the draw for me. Everyday beers are basic, but brewed true to style. First of all you have to really want to try the beers here, because you will get your exercise doing it, specfically up 3 1/2 flights of stairs. The views of downtown and the river are spectacular especially in the fading light heading into night when the town lights up. It’s worth it! | | boFNjackson (54), Portland, Oregon | | March 28, 2008 [ Updated January 20, 2009 ] heard lots of great stuff about this place from lots of people. Went in, wasn’t too big on the aesthetic of the place, kind of bare. But service was great, had a couple of their own brews that were really tasty, and the happy hour was awesome. Four of us ate and drank and our bill was $30 dollars!!!! | | beerinmarch (118), Alabama | | November 25, 2007 Nice pub up on the hill with a view of the river. The food was very good, I had a small pizza that was excellent. They had 6 beers on tap or so, all good to very good quality, only one beer was a bit disapointing. Highly recommended place. | | batkins (78), Vancouver, Washington | | March 3, 2007 Ok, first things first.....get ready for some stairs! Behind the street level windows you will find the brewery. Go up the first set of stairs to find a couple of nice pool tables and the bathrooms. Go up another, inside set of stairs to find the bar/restaurant. The bar is fairly small as is the dining area, both with views of the river. Several outside patios/decks for fair weather seating. Food is somewhat overpriced, but for the area, it’s probably no TOO bad. Service was good, as was the food. Beers were a bit above average, with the stout being particlularly good. | | jake65 (55), Williston, North Dakota | | February 13, 2007 Quiet house turned brewpub is easy to find from the interstate. Parking is crowded, even during a slow part of the day. We did get a great table by the window with an amazing view of town. Food was good, but pricey. Service was better than average. Only had one beer, but it was quite good. They do offer a sampler at a reasonable price. | | Oakes (421), gone rambling, Vietnam | | August 2, 2006 Big house overlooking Hood River with views of the Gorge on one side and a bit of a biergarten on the other. I arrived at a beer launch party so it was quite festive, despite a fairly cookie-cutter interior. Had a quesadilla, nothing special but that’s something I make really well myself so I wouldn’t expect more. The beer range wasn’t too bad for a brewery I’d never heard of and the new beer (Little Red Rooster) was really good. I know Full Sail is the big name brand, but I’d find time for both these places (and Elliot Glacier as well) if in Hood River. | | harlequinn (112), Tacoma, Washington | | May 26, 2006 Great atmosphere overlooking the city of Hood River at night when it is all lit up. Nice sized sampler, did not try the food, but the menu was good looking and somewhat pricey with alot of steaks and seafood. Service however was horrible. My father and I sat there waiting to be served forever before someone payed attention to us, and even at that point they could not tell us about the beers without looking up at the board they were all posted on to tell us what styles they had on. | | Braudog (476), Dayton, Ohio | | July 30, 2005 May 2004: This place has a lot of potential, but I was way underimpressed with their beers, and the restuarant itself was kinda underkempt and uncomfortable inside. Overpriced after the mountain climb up the steps, too. |
