This is a pretty quaint place. Sort of a low key cafe style which seemed more like a lunch spot than a late night bar. When you walk in there’s two bars; a bar to your left for ales and a bar to your right for ordering food. No wait staff, just order at the bar service. We didn’t get any food (except for their complementary bowls of popcorn), but the barkeep was friendly. They had about six of their own brews on tap which ranged from average to slightly above average. The place was decorated with loads of coasters and cans from an uncountable amount of breweries (both large and small). What attracted me to Elliot Glacier was that there is supposedly an incredible view of Mt. Hood, and even though there wasn’t a cloud in the sky that day in Portland, there were low clouds in the Cascades. I don’t think this place is a must, but I haven’t seen Elliot Glacier brews in Portland. So if you are looking to cross their beer off of your list, and to see a view of Mt. Hood, it certainly wont hu

Smells of old stale popcorn and if I was blindfolded I would swear I had stumbled into an old town movie theater. Loud and bustingly busy with locals and tourist alike. I grabbed a table near the patio with an amazing view of Mt. Hood in the fading light. Apparently I arrived on taco night, but I decided not to partake as I wanted to have dinner later at Big Horse. Part, brewery, kitchen and ski lodge with lots of bottles and other memorabilia scattered on the walls. A simple kitchen too, not unlike the one in your home, with a literal counter, a few hanging pans and a 4 burner stove and a dishwasher. Plus they make their own root beer which always gets points in my book.

The sort of chill, divey place that a bunch of windsurfers or skaters might run. The beer is a tad sweet and malty (which I liked) and the view from the back yard is of Mt Hood in all its splendor. Free popcorn (stale) was a nice touch. They serve burritos and a six beer sampler. Interestingly, they make a scottish ale year round. The view is the big draw here. Take Route 35 south of Hood River for about 20 minutes.

I’ve lived in buildings with more people than Parkdale...it’s a great setting for such a rustic little brewpub. The place backs onto an orchard with Wyeast looming largely in the background. The view alone with worth a 5 for ambiance. The beers have some diacetyl to them so I stuck with the fuller-flavoured ones and it worked out well. They have a small menu, but also free popcorn. I was amazed but after five the people started to filter in, both locals and beer tourists in OR for the OBF. Solid spot I thought.

The interior is half ski lodge and half brewpub, there’s a small counter for food orders and opposite that is the bar. When I visited they only had 4 beers available, but it was nice to sit out back on a warm summer evening and drink some good beer in front of Mount Hood. The view from the back biergarden was incredible. We ate burritos that were very good.

Nice little place tucked away in the booming metropolis of Parkdale, Oregon. Building has some sort of historical significance and a damn nice view of the mountain. Beers on tap are all from the brewery. Some seasonal introductions but mainly a steady lineup. Service was speedy and friendly. Food (burrito) was passable, the menu is limited. Nice place after skiing/hiking/driving.

What a drive! Awesome views of Mt. Hood on the way here. It was dark by the time we got here so it was like we were just driving out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains and BAM, you’re in a tiny spit in the road and the only lights you see are OPEN and BREWPUB. Inside was warm and very characteristic of a small town ski bar. plastic table covers, free popcorn. The beers were drinkable, didn’t try the food. Even the locals here know their shit about beers. Only in Oregon man! I’ve heard the view from here is noteworthy but as I said before, it was night.
