| boFNjackson (54), Portland, Oregon | | August 26, 2009 Nice little brewpub way up in NE. Interior was nicely considered and decorated. Not too flashy, but not bare at all. Happy hour prices were incredible deals on large plates of really decent food. Service was so so, but it was a packed house with large crowd for people to sit. Their bear fluctuates in quality quite a bit. Their Pale and Black Stout, Organic IPA and Juniper Porter are all slightly above average, where as their Cream and both wheat ales were really below average. But it’s a cool place to check out, and I heard they may open a location downtown and I’ll look forward to that. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | July 9, 2009 This pretty far brewpub was on the hit-list for its excellent Black Bear stout I tried at GABF a couple of years back. I was happy to try their almost as satisfying IPA. On the other hand, it represents a considerable detour in a city where you don’t need to go all that far. Still, there’s a bus stop right in front, so we made it on a saturday night. At 10pm, the 2 of us consisted of 40% of the customers. Depressing. More depressing even are the looks of the place. Ugly and cheap metal walls that reminds of the very old and rusty dull silver campers contaminate the bar area while those ugly designer wooden benches that rise 4 meters in the air look alien. The high ceilings and dark atmosphere are not helping while the staff felt disgusted when we inquired on their closing time and they revealed they had to keep on until midnight. I certainly won’t be back. Good stout, but bottled and good IPA, but plenty of others around town. I simply did not want to stay for a second beer. | | troopie (40), | | November 1, 2008 Lunch on Saturday afternoon. Food was good and not too expensive, beef a little dry but tasty. Service was brisk and friendly, neither absent nor hovering, they showed respect for our conversations. Only their own beers, but all of them were present. There’s a little off street parking, but not enough for the businesses. Well worth your time and money. | | beerinmarch (118), Alabama | | August 31, 2008 Small pub in NE Portland. Very nice design on the inside, sort of mix of industrial and new era pub. They had 9 beers and a root beer on tap, sadly the root beer was better then almost any of their beers. The stout and porter were decent. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The beer sampler was $11 dollars, way the heck overpriced, the food was reasonably priced though. | | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | August 10, 2008 The brewhouse is placed in the restaurant with the tanks in the back. The pub is quite large, and modernly decorated with use of stone and light wood, and with lots of booths. The service was good and friendly. 8 beers on tap when I visited. | | BeerZack (11), Austin, Texas | | March 31, 2008 Atmosphere is cool. Big open warehouse with some nice design elements (booth backs) to make it seem more upscale than beer hall. Would recommend this place for food and drinks, not the atmosphere you want to grab a beer at the bar really. Selection is house beer only, but had at least 8 or 9 taps including the seasonals and nitro rotator. Beer was solid. Nothing really caught my fancy, but the seasonal Bock was good as well as the El Torerro (organic) IPA which was nice and fruity smelling, but a bit too astringent. Waitress was very nice and accommodating. A tad pricey ($10 beer sampler), but I have no complaints. | | Feinschmecker (51), Seattle, Washington | | March 30, 2008 Really good beer. It was a surprise to find a bock here! The food smelled so appetizing I decided on the calamari, which was some of the best I have had and tender and not chewy. Their selection is not too ambitious and they offer a great selection in my opinion without a disappointment. | | BuckeyeBoy (57), Boise, Idaho | | March 22, 2008 Stopped in for a sample of the house brews on my layover to New Orleans For the OSU game. A pretty cool place. Not many people in at 11:00 AM. | | 11026 (58), Alabama | | October 2, 2006 Decent place in the inner SE portion of town. Open, fancy linens on tables. Decent selections of their own beers span a range of styles. Beers were pretty decent, service was fine. Didn’t try the food. Certainly worth a stop if you are in Portland. | | BrewDad (239), Olympia, Washington | | September 11, 2006 [ Updated September 4, 2008 ] A great place. Hey the huge Hop on the outside was awesome to see. It was an old warehouse made in to a killer brew pub. Loved the atmosphere. The beer was great and the food was above the rest and finally great service in a brewpub. This was a great time for us all. 10 samples on the sampler tray to try. The parking at times can be a tad hairy and they have a huge kids area so it is cool to bring the little ones. |
