Wow this place was full of kids. They had a play area for the kids and that was brimming with kids and then kids running all over the place. Was I at Chuck E Cheeses? But I am glad because I had my kid with us also. We had a great time the service was good and they played to the kids when we needed it for the food. The beers are very good also and one of the first in America to be all Organic with the beers. I had a great sampler of beers and I loved the Green Elephant IPA. The dark beers where also very good. This is a must stop also for your Portland stops. Yes there are many to hit in Portland.

Noise level wasn’t bad, even though it was full of children and has a working brewery on site. Food was better and more interesting than most brewpubs. They have excellent desserts that go well with their stout. Service knows qhat they are about.

Living in the Hollywood neighborhood where this fine brewpub is located, it is easy for me to say this, go after 9pm. Unless you are a family, the ambiance caters towards kids running around before then. Also, "Happy Hour" special kick in then as well and the staff are more relaxed and chatty. A fairly expansive menu with great burgers as well as those searching for more expensive fair of steaks and such. Try the Cathy’s Special burger with a fried egg on it and a little hot sauce.

Great place to hang out...to bad I live in Houston. Beer was wonderful, as was the weather.....75 degrees just sitting on the deck under the big tree. Food looked fantastic, but has just had lunch. Loved the sampler kit....9 beer tasters for only $5 or something....it was great.

One of the best brew pubs in Portland (if not the best)! And that’s saying a whole lot in a city with as many fine brew pubs as Portland! First of all, the beer is great. That is why the brewer has won many awards from GABF to World Beer Cup. Second, the food is very good. Pub grub and a notch above pub grub food is on the menu. They also have great desserts. One of the great thing about Laurelwood is the late night happy hour. Cheep food on a special HH menu and discounts on award winning beer. (and usually no kids running around that late either). How can you go wrong! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable but are a little lax on service so be prepared to wait.

About two blocks from my hotel. Loads of kids running about when I was there, but they didn’t really seem all that obnoxious. Sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly, giving us tips about the area, where there was good music playing and where there were other bars in the area. I enjoyed all of the beers here, and the patrons were also very friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

This place was nicely done. Very roomy. The beer selection is fine with 8 on tap. I enjoyed the beer more then the food. The patio area is not the place to be. For smokers, not very friendly. The patio is next to the dump and where empty kegs are dropped off. The staff was friendly and helpful with our selection on food and beer. I have heard about this place from people who live there and a place to go. I believe that I had a such a high expection, that they simple could not live up to it. Yet, a good place to stop and enjoy a good pint.

Neat view of the brewing equipment, almost cave-like, though the main seating area is pretty ordinary. Lots of stuff on tap, but unfortunately the glassware universally smelled strongly of detergent, which made it hard to enjoy anything fully. Staff couldn’t help much in that regard, though they were certainly courteous and tried to help...I guess it’s the way they clean things there and little could be done short of extra rinsing. The couple of beers I had were ok. Had one of their pasta dishes, nothing spectacular but fine.

Restaurant section is for families. I like the sunken brewery - looks really good. Lots of natural light and an almost Scandinavian-feeling basic decor. Plenty of beers, some of which are pretty good. I had a Sante Fe burger and enjoyed that as well. Good spot.

A family restaurant for sure, many youngins running around like we were at the playground at mcdonalds. A great sampler plate with a few really nice brews. The happyhour food was actually really good for the dollar burgers they were.
