| CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 Came here to meet up with friends for a pint and some food. I found the ambiance to be very low-key and relaxed. Dog friendly, which is really cool. I did find the servers to be disgruntled and generally disdainful of people who didn’t appear to be local or "Portland" enough. The beers were okay, the food was cheap, simple, and relatively fresh. | | troopie (40), | | February 7, 2009 Large barn like area. I thought of a boerfest in somebody’s plaas when I sat down. You queue up to order food and drink, but beer service is quick. I barely got my request for a pint out of my mouth and it was in my hand. Food came while I was in the loo. Noise level very acceptable. They have off street parking. Toebroodtjies very good. Dogs allowed in the patio | | slimchill (57), Austin, Texas | | November 1, 2008 Huge, beautiful interior and outdoor seating among a flourishing hop garden. Taplist is confusing but comprehensive. Good service, several vegan options but I did not eat. | | BiddleBrau (32), Midland Park, New Jersey | | August 21, 2008 SW location. Barn-like main seating area. Quiet night but I’m sure this could be quite a loud place on weekends. Nice outdoor seating area
| | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | June 12, 2008 What an old worn barn this brewpub is set in. The whole interior is just worn wood, in the huge drinking arear, which is lit by very uninviting lighting. They only serve sandwiches which is a drawback. 10 beers on draft, 9 of which was new to me, which was the only reason one should go here. Service was slow. I might come back if I’m close by, to see if another tick is possible, but I won’t go far out of my way for this place. | | BeerZack (11), Austin, Texas | | March 24, 2008 This place is damn near perfect. Granted, they have more space than most, but they use it well- large open inside seating area with a huge windowed wall where you can observe the goings-on in the dog-run. Beer selection and quality is great- who needs guest taps when the house beer is so good and offers so many choices?? Most of the Lucky Lab beers I sampled were well above average some of the best in Portland I could find. Standouts were the Pavlovs Imperial Stout, SuperDog IPA and a cask stout that was really nice. The food here was decent brewpub fare and priced reasonably, no complaints. Service was fast (both food and bar) and bartenders seemed knowledgeable of the products and only slightly apathetic. Would highly recommend+Great value! PS This place had at least 8-10 taps and at least 1 cask when I was there. | | BuckeyeBoy (58), Boise, Idaho | | March 22, 2008 [ Updated August 8, 2008 ] A pretty cool location a barn. a Nice selection on. Pretty cool. | | raphael (13), Portland, Oregon | | May 28, 2007 The place is a barn, crooked tables, patch chairs, but its lack of ambiance is its ambiance, the people heer are friendly and casual. Given that they only have 1 guest tap, they do okay with their own brews, having branched out more in the last year or two (though their multnomah branch has a couple more to choose from.) The food is simple. tasty and filling; I’m a particular fan of the sandwiches. Good place to gather. | Peanut8117 (3), Portland, Oregon does not count - explanation | | January 23, 2007 Great place to take your dog after a day’s hike. | | GeneralGao (220), Iowa City, Iowa | | July 8, 2006 Big place with towering ceilings and skylights. There was a patio out back. Ordered a BLT and a few beers at the long bar. 10 house beers including one nitro and one cask. The BLT I ate was decent. The beers were good. |
