| f351c4v (50), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | September 14, 2008 Small brewpub located in the business district of Carlisle. Homey bar area, with tons of character. During my visit, they had 3 house beers on draught, and one on cask, along with maybe 10 or so guest taps. Beers aren’t bad, but aren’t outstanding. It’s worth the trip just for the atmosphere, friendly bartenders make all the difference. Only sampled the pub chips the rest of the food seemed to have a British flair. | bigbobdog (3), does not count - explanation | | April 7, 2008 some common some not so common beers. always enjoy the food and the dip for pretzels | | tronraner (86), Maryville, Tennessee | | October 25, 2007 The house beers were fair, but were not at all what were reflected on the menu. The atmosphere was very claustrophobic for my taste this was not helped by the presence of a Samuel Adams sales rep pushing people to try his beers. The service was terse and apathetic. I only ate a salad, so I can’t reflect too much on the food selection, but what I had was decent. All in all, this was not a particularly enjoyable experience. I will probably not return. | chief_65 (3), does not count - explanation | | August 20, 2007 Selection was very disappointing. Their own IPA and Wheat, which were average, along with about 10 other taps, all of which were typical. Only exception was Youngs Double Choc Stout, which was just tapped that morning. Delicious!
Food was very poor - skip the Fish&chips. | | acrdz (538), Boulder, Colorado | | July 9, 2007 Nice pub, intimate, low light, dining mixed right in with the long, cramped bar but it’s a cozy feeling. Beer selection was a bit poor, 3-4 taps of their own, but another 10 or so taps of microbrew, plus a huge bottle list. Crowd was decently jovial, a little too much of the suburbs were in here dining, but otherwise it was a fun visit. Wasn’t too impressed with their food, the steak sandwich I had was pretty lacking. | | Braudog (441), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | | February 20, 2007 February 2007: Stopped by here for a late lunch on a frigid February afternoon. The brewpub is along a central street in Carlisle, a typical little village for this part of Pennsylvania. The interior is low-ceilinged but does a respectable job at imitating an English pub. While the service was a tad bit slow, it was efficient enough to keep us happy. Our food was very good, and also rivaled a decent British tavern. Most importantly, the house beers were very good (and they had a decent list of guest taps), which means I’ll be back if in the area again. | | hopscotch (135), Vero Beach, Florida | | November 20, 2006 My wife and I love this place. Very solid lineup of house beers. Good selection of bottles and guest beer taps. Excellent English pub fare. Pretty darn authentic, according to my wife who spent several years across the pond. Friendly service. Smoking is allowed, but the ventilation seems to be good. Plenty of televisions to watch whatever ballgame or stock car race happen to be on. Great steak salad and fries with gravy. Fish and chips are great too. A hidden gem! | csuders (1), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | May 27, 2006 a nice pub feeling. its a bit small and cramped, but thats what a pub is supposed to be. a good selection of beers and good food as well. there is a second location down in shippensburg too. its a bit more of a resturant with a more roomy dining room. the ship location doesn’t have quite as many beers but still a good selection. the food is great at both locations, prices aren’t too bad. be sure to check either place out on a wed. for wing night! locals like myself are there every week, good atmosphere. | | jehoey (21), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania | | May 17, 2006 Nice selections of bottles: some trappists, chimay, orval and other belgians. Good selection of germans. I had a thristy dog siberian night and DFH 90 min. IPA. some pretty good things on tap Troegs, Youngs double chocolate, and Lindeman’s Framboise. This is a gem in the middle of central PA. Cheers. Food was good as well, but can be a bit pricy | | Nejhleader (53), Hummelstown, Pennsylvania | | December 17, 2005 Pretty nice play. My only complaint that it seemed a little tight. Even the bathroom was tiny for a full restaurant. Nice selection of beers, and they have a few of their own. Food is pretty good, and service is pleasant. | View Page : 1 2
