jmm635 (8), Wynnewood, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 16, 2008 I’ve been to Capone’s twice - once at the bar and once at the bottle shop. Both experiences were great! The night I was at the bar they had a nice selection of beers on tap, many of which I had never tried before. I was near Capone’s very early one morning and they opened the bottle shop for me and helped me pick out a few things. They had a great seasonal selection and I also got a free pint glass from Sprecher with my purchase. Make sure you get on the email list so you get updates when new beers come into the bottle shop, as well as tap selection updates. Keep in mind, the bottle shop does not accept cards, but they do have an ATM. | santoslhalper (6), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 13, 2008 Stopped in tonight to get some brews to go. Holy freaking selection!! I can’t believe the amount of obscure, interesting, and unique imports and domestics available. It’s really mind blowing. Port, Lost Abbey, Hopping Frog, St. Somewhere, Mikkeller, Struise, Cantillon, East End, Voodoo, Drie Fontenien, and a billion others I can’t even remember. It was a humbling experience to see so many brews I did not know. The service was great. We were there after they were going to close, but they stayed open just so we could browse, and they couldn’t have been nicer. I highly recommend this place, but make sure your checkbook can handle it. | beergirl2288 (4), , Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 2, 2008 Stopped by for lunch, very nice selection, service was good too. food ok but i was pleasantly suprised.......nice job! | | mkobes (48), somewhere, New Jersey | | September 8, 2008 Great place. Great bottle selection. Good food. We picked up a few bottles to go. Nice tap selection. Tap beers were very fresh. Nice place. Would definitely visit again. | mingo1968 (2), phila, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | August 20, 2008 Went there today for the first time with my family including 2 young children. the food was good but the selection was not big. they had a large selection of beer both bottle and tap with a sampler option to taste 4 different beers. I would go there again. | | BeerGestapo (12), Windsor, Pennsylvania | | July 17, 2008 Went on a beer trip with AFI96 to Norristown, Pa to find Capones . Inside there is a bar, restaurant, and a small bottle shop !! Matt, the owner offered to share a bottle of Skargaards Porter which was very nice of him to do. We found some interesting beers in the shop, Three Floyds, Lost abbey, Fantome, and Hair of the Dog. Matt, was super friendly and talked to us about trades, and trying to find hard to find brews. This place is worth the drive. :) | | afireinside96 (14), Mountville, Pennsylvania | | July 12, 2008 [ Updated August 14, 2008 ] Visited today for the first time. This place deserves all of the credit it gets, especially Matt. In the short time I was there he opened a bottle of Nørrebro Skärgaards Porter for me to try, took my email address and offered to hold stuff for me for up to 3 months, and sold me a bottle of Westvleteren Abt 12. Though the place is small they have a very nice selection of rare or hard to find stuff including: Lost Abbey/Pizza Port, Hoppin’ Frog, Stone, Bells, Three Floyds, etc. Nice selection of stuff on tap as well. | | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | May 27, 2008 [ Updated August 8, 2008 ] I visited on Sunday, May 25th. I was in town for a wedding, and had precious little time to spend at this place. The building itself is a distinctive house on a stretch of road that is full of strip mall crap. I was able to hit the bottle shop and get some interesting bottles. The bottle shop itself is pretty cramped, but stuffed full of a ton of interesting beers. Good selection of micros from all over, and decent imports, including Belgians. Overall, certainly one of the better selections I have seen. In terms of the bar/restaurant side of the house, I only had time for one beer, but I made it count with a Bear Republic Racer X. Perfectly served by friendly bartenders. The scene in the bar itself is very locally - not at all a haven for beer nerds I was expecting. It seemed like a normal local tavern that also happened to have a crazy good tap selection. I would have loved to have time to try the Ramstein Eisbock, but oh well. Certainly a place to hit if you are in the greater Philly area. | | tjthresh (47), Greenfield, Indiana | | May 18, 2008 Visited over a weekend trip to Philly. There is not way you would ever know that this is one of the finest beer establishments in the world by looking at it. From the outside, and even when you walk in, it looks like any family restaurant or bar and grill. We sat down at the bar, glanced at the beer list, and thing took off from there. The list was full of stuff I’d never had before, and Matt hooked us up by tapping a couple of things he had stashed (Racer X and Hopslam). The two bartenders were attentive and nice to talk to. The beer room is out of this world. I walked out with a few rare treasures. I’ve never seen such a selection. The food was very good. I had a crab cake sandwich. I heard afterwards that they are known for there burgers. The praise this place receives is well deserved. Hell, it deserves more. I hope to visit Matt again some day. | | Walt (184), Chicago, Illinois | | May 15, 2008 Fantastic place! I bought a bunch of beers at the bottle shop and Mr. egajdzis is still sitting on them for me. Food was great too, service was a little behind though. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5 6
