February 21, 2006 When I had the food here, admittedly longer ago, I remember it being basically typical of what is available at decent, non grimy places around here. servicable but don’t expect fireworks based on this (kinda ignorant) other guy. Main focus would be the bar upstairs, where the service is swift, courteous, british, and efficient. He keeps it clean up there and seems to respect his job, a real publican. I like the ambiance a lot, tons of wood, nice island style bar, brass rail. They had something nice and different up there too - a smoked brandy mulled wine, which was delicious, fruity apple berries, full flavored and warming, which we even got a free sample of. The beer selection on draft is nothing rare, but some of it works out pretty well like the boddingtons. The bottles are mostly junk with a few ok things mixed in. Not a bad place to stop and grab some grub and a beer or meet up with friends, has nothing to do with beer hunting except in the very early stages, but a class bar that deserves some props for being pleasant. |
August 11, 2005 This place is a great English style Pub, with an amazing restaraunt attached. Great english foods, delicious fish and chips, really a top notch place. Good beer selection on draft, and they are all great beers include hoegarden and new castle, as well as some seasonal. Also have a pretty good selection of bottles (though why drink a bottle at the pub?). Really a great place with a great english feel. |
