HoppyRob (1), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | August 29, 2008 Lived in Philly for a long time and this is one of the top beer bars in the city. Great selection at a good value. Limited menu but all the food is great too. | | agl108 (17), Manayunk, Pennsylvania | | March 20, 2008 [ Updated March 22, 2008 ] My local bar, been there literally hundreds of times. Beer selection is the best in Manayunk. Only 4 drafts (upgrading draft system soon?) but there are over 100 bottles available with no macro swill. Some rare, hard to find stuff over the years: Three Floyds, Founders, Fantome, Bell’s. Bob, the owner, is very knowledgeable and will make recommendations if you ask. Food is average pub fare and can be hit and miss depending on the night. Tuesday night is wing night and can get crowded. Live acoustic music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights with lots of St Joe’s, Temple, and Villanova kids. The 2nd floor will apparently be opening soon as well. An upgrade to the draft system would do wonders for this bar. | | chronictonic (24), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania | | September 29, 2007 Surprisingly good beer place for Manayunk. Haven’t been there in a while, but last time there I was surprised by some of the great beer selections. Nothing outrageous, but definitely some beers I’ve not seen elsewhere in Philadelphia. Food is bar food with entrees, nothing special. Staff is not really beer knowledgeable, but is helpful and attentive. Sometimes you can spot some good specials - like Bigfoot for $3 a bottle. |
