| WeeHeavySD (77), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | June 25, 2009 This used to be my girlfriend’s bottle shop when she lived in Philly. She lived next door, so we had to go hear and they had some good beer and it really should be called the beerery, though I understand the whole food-ery brew-ery thing. Not super cheap but mix a six is a big thing. I liked it. | | JoeMcPhee (241), Jackson Heights, New York | | March 21, 2009 Be prepared to leave with a lighter wallet. It was close to my hotel and that’s really the only reason I went here. Way too expensive although there was a lot of stuff that I couldn’t get in New York, so I bought a few. The stuff is well stored in dark coolers throughout, so that’s a plus, but I can’t get over those prices. I picked my stuff out before they were legally allowed to sell it, but the guy behind the counter just tucked my six packs into a cooler up front so I could just pick them up in an hour’s time. Not bad really. | | OSLO (62), Minnesota | | March 17, 2009 Came across this store entirely by accident while taking 10th to South Street. The store is really tiny, just a corner shop that doesn’t look like much from the outside. Inside, the selection is solid, with a number of coolers in the back and a few shelves with larger bottles. Nothing really amazed me, but again, it was a very nice selection. One annoying thing was that their prices were not listed, so you have to page through a binder they have set out to find out how much things cost. The service was a little below par, certainly not overly friendly, and the prices seemed a bit high. All in all pretty good. | | LilBeerDoctor (29), East Setauket, New York | | January 11, 2009 Stopped by here for a quick visit. It’s a small shop, but they’ve got a lot of quality beer. I didn’t buy much (although I wanted to), only because it was quite expensive. Probably a regular 12 oz. bottle was ~$3-$4 on average. They have a good selection of domestic beers, although they don’t have the complete lineup of high end imports that the other Foodery has. Definitely a place to check out if you have the time but it’s not really a place you can expect to bring home a big haul. For the locals, I’m not sure how bottle prices compare to other stores given the silly PA laws, but it’s probably a place to check out too. | | pinkzambia (42), Boise, Idaho | | July 3, 2008 This place is really cool. Lots of micro choices including West coast and of course, East coast. The guy thta helped me knew his beer which was nice. Super friendly, but WAAAAYY overpriced. He said that if you bought a six pack the sixth bottle was discounted, so I was really stoked. I was shocked when the total came to $19 for a sick pack. None of the bottles have prices stickers on them which is a sly trick on their part.
Due to the assinine liquor laws in PA, they have to be a deli in order to sell beer as part of their take out. What is funny is that they have all this sandwich equipment, but rarely use it. He told me they make about 10 sandwiches a day. Everybody knows it is all about the beer. | | FooFaa (25), Lebanon, Pennsylvania | | May 31, 2008 The selection is very good, with a few rare beers, but I think they are over-priced. There’s a decent selection of Belgians and other quality European beers: Nogne, Olfbrikken, Cantillon, Rochefort, Ayinger, and many more. The domestic craft beer selection is also very good: Bells, Lost Abbey, Jolly Pumpkin, and all the locals. The staff was friendly and left us to do our thing. If you’re looking for take-out beer while downtown then this is the place to go. | | mkobes (48), paramus, New Jersey | | March 2, 2008 Very well lit store and clean. Big selection of beer bottles, Cantillon, Mikkeller. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can easily mix and match singles. The stores prices are high. They sell chips and dips and other snacks. Decent place. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 20, 2008 For a state that has a case law, you can’t go wrong at a place like this, great selection, easy to mix and match singles (12oz, 22oz, 750ml, etc…). Service is friendly and local friendly. Only major drawback was the prices, definitely not cheap, but what else are you going to do if you want singleton/unique stuff w/ PA distribution and can’t buy cases of it all? Parking isn’t bad, streetside, can be busy. | ScoWRee (5), Phila, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | December 2, 2007 Great Place Very nice selection. Most beer is sold cold. Parking is difficult. | | corby112 (16), philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | November 30, 2007 I have beenspoiled by the newer 2nd street location and was let down when entering this much smaller location. The selection is still amazing but seems like half of what the other location carries, especially the top shelf products such as Cantillion, Nogne, Olfbrikken, etc. They do however, have a knowledgable staff and are in a convenient location if you don’t have to park. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5
