| acrdz (538), Boulder, Colorado | | March 5, 2008 Wood and green paneling decor. Food is pub grub with some decent stuff. Beer on tap was pilsener, helles, Belgian golden, dry stout, a few of their more common, low ABV typical-type stuff, but they had quite a few bottles to go. Not sure I dig the decor, but it works. A nice place, I will probably make it back for the goat races of one of the IPA releases. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 17, 2008 Restaurant atmosphere wasn’t that special, much like a basic inexpensive restaurant (even a Denny’s). Nice casual bar atmosphere. Light foods were good (wraps and the beer pretzels in particular), although I didn’t have the main courses / meals. The service was good, although the mid-day staff didn’t blow me away with their beer knowledge. My needs were met and as a beer establishment, this place was pretty good. As a food establishment, good, but probably not worth seeking out only for the food. | | Funknmilla (10), Absecon, New Jersey | | November 29, 2007 Phoenxville location.....ive been here a few times and the atmosphere is always relaxing, yet energetic....the food is pretty good, but the appetizers seem to be better than the entrees...for example ONION RINGS!!!...a .must have....very friendly staff, they will let you try anything on tap before ordering more...as far as the visual goes, TV’s a plenty, gaming machines on the bar, stuffed foxes real and fake....a nice view of the brewing equipment, and soothing green mint walls complimented by treated natural wood....the plastic pitcher for a brewpub is slightly disappointing though | | Hawksfan17 (41), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania | | October 15, 2007 Went in here and got some pretzels and a burger. The food was sadly better then the beer that day. I have always liked Sly Fox but never loved it. There was nothing special about the place. It seemed too much like a corner bar then a brewpub. | | Ungstrup (209), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | February 10, 2007 A small mall location - with a very mall brewpub like interior. The bar is very high, so it is not very comfortable to sit at and take notes. 12 beer on tap and 4 different bomber size bottles to take away in singles. The beer ranging from average to excellent - above average brewpub beers. The service was very knowledgeable and the prices were fair. | | boelker62 (12), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania | | January 23, 2007 [ Updated March 26, 2007 ] Since living in Phoenixville, this as been the most welcoming place, with the most appreciative-to-see-you people I have experienced. My view of the ambiance is admittedly a bit skewed therefore, because of personal relationships with the staff. But that goes to show you that you don’t have to go often to gain the favor of these folks. I recommend, an actually brag about the place as if it were my own. With this said, the Sly Fox makes ALL of their beers as close to the intended styles as any other brewpub I have visited. I don’t like them all, but only because I do not like all styles of beers. But from my tasting knowledge, each one is accuate, with the little Sly Fox twist. That’s what’s great about this place. This place is a beer bar, period, only a few TV’s in the corners for the sports guys. I recommend just sitting back, appreciating the brew in your hand, and starting a conversation with a stranger. It can get really loud at happy hour, so plan accordingly. Also, cigar smoking is allowed in the bar area, but every cigar smoker I have encountered there has been amazingly considerate of others, blowing upward, waiting to start until after you are done eating, etc., unlike cigarette smokers. | dberger624 (3), Phila, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | December 17, 2006 Been here a few times. Last was for the IPA project. Nice big clean place. Food and beer were very good. | | JB175 (42), Holland, Pennsylvania | | August 19, 2006 My first trip to Sly Fox, and I made the trip specifically to try the (one day only) Firkin sampling of their Simcoe IPA. I did get there at 7pm, later than expected, but sadly found no Simcoe. That wouldn’t have been so bad if only I could have had some of the Palisade IPA that was said to be available on their website. Apparently they had been out of that one for awhile even though the site had been updated the day before. Sorry to gripe, but don’t list beers that you don’t have! I would have preferred to make the trip at a different time. Still, the 113 IPA, Royal Weisse, and O’reilley’s stout were nice and I was able to grab their Ichor Quad and some Phoenix and Pils cans to go. But.....yet again there were many items listed as available for takeout that were not available. Other than the beer that wasn’t there, the food was good, service good, and my wife and I really enjoyed the place. Wife said "best ribs she’s ever had" and my burger and appetizer hit the spot. Very friendly place that I would definately recommend! | | hopscotch (135), Vero Beach, Florida | | June 12, 2006 Sat at the bar. Ate a salad and wings. The salad was ok. The wings were very good... and cheap. Bought a bottle of their Ichor quad. Worked my way through their Summer sampler. Service was good, but again, I was sitting at the bar. Hard to miss me there. Not too smoky. I’ll visit again. | | glkaiser (38), Seattle, Washington | | March 2, 2006 Great brewpub.....just went here for the second time in about a year. They know what they’re doing...and turn out great beers from what I’ve tasted. I was there the day after one of the brewers got married...and everyone working was hungover as hell:-) | View Page : 1 2 3 4
