| KornDogg (15), Lancaster, Pennsylvania | | October 9, 2008 Nice place, my buddy introduced me to it... neatly organized, prices are labeled, good selection... like others said it is far cheaper then Sharp Edge... would highly recommend stoppin by here... other then this place I would recommend THE BEER STORE in moon, across from Robert Morris Univ. if you want cheap prices at the cost of a little bit smaller of a selection... | Foam (7), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | July 14, 2008 Apparently this place was opened by someone related to the D’z 6 packs places ....or someone who got nudged out of that deal anyway .... A nice selection but very high prices being that it’s in whitewash Wexford ( a mcmansion-y suburb ) Still, better than no joint like this in the area ... I try to take a look anytime i’m up there ... | | MrBunn (32), Western, Pennsylvania | | February 16, 2008 Stopped in today after hearing much about the place. It had some nice finds... I went home with Bigfoot, Ten Fidy and Gordon, Big A (Smuttynose) and some others I’d been meaning to try. There were some Belgians, a nice selection of micros and the like... but prices were high as everywhere I’ve been in the Pittsburgh area. I walked with a six pack and a bomber and dropped almost $30. Yowch! Discount prices on sixers mean that you will pay $11-13 for regular offerings and much more for special releases. | DragonsHead (4), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | February 5, 2008 Great selection. First time there in December. I was very suprised at the prices. Usually, beer is more expensive in this area. Only regret is that it’s in Allegheney County. | dpjuart (2), Indiana, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | December 28, 2007 Nice bottle selection. Mix and Match sixers, convenient labeling system for pricing. Lots of US Micros and imports. Decent Belgian selection. Staff seemed to know their shizzy, though I had little interaction with them. Prices are a bit better than D’s, but a more limited selection. Worth a stop. | | f351c4v (50), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | January 6, 2007 Nice little shop in the Wexford Flats plaza. There’s a small food counter that serves hot dogs to accomodate the sale of beer. PA has such archaic laws relating to the sale of beer (among other things), but this is nether the time nor the place... anyway, selection was decent, mostly micros, but there was also a nice Belgian selection. Fantome was a highlight, accompanied by the other usual suspects (Chimay, Global Beer, etc.) Other highlights included Lagunitas and Stone bombers for ~$6, Victory 750’s, and a good showing of German/UK offerings. It’s a great shop by local standards, but in the current climate, no PA bottle store will ever be able to compete with one from a non-monopolized state (ahem, Vintage Estates in Boardman OH, anyone...) | | Linus_Stick (27), Moon Township, Pennsylvania | | December 4, 2006 This is a cool place that I will return to often. Not as many imports as Sharp Edge, but man are they less expensive! This is a true bottle shop. All coolers are alphabetized and fully stocked. I’ve noticed a few bottles that were as much as 2.00 less here than at Sharp Edge (which is my benchmark for all bottle shops). Gratned Sharp edge has a full service restaurant and gives a discount for 6 packs. Nonetheless, if I am in between pays, this place is well worth the drive. | | illinismitty (200), Nashville, Tennessee | | November 1, 2006 This place was about 9 miles north of my hotel, so I went to check it out. I hear this is the only singles place north of town. Very clean, and a decent selection of beer. For mix a six and singles pricing, its just ok. But far cheaper than drinking at a bar and worth the expense to avoid the PA case laws. I spent a good 25 minutes trying to decide what to take back. I did not eat. They could use some slight improvement on the organization, otherwise a very good singles-dog joint. Glad I went. | rjulian24 (2), does not count - explanation | | October 27, 2006 Cool little place that offered a lot of great beers in an area that I have had a hard time getting great beer. While I missed the opportunity I thought it was great that they offered tastings on Thursdays. Next time in Pa I will have to try it out. | | cheapdark (58), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania | | October 17, 2006 [ Updated July 22, 2008 ] Yes, really like. Has almost anything you could ask for, if it is in season. Nice 6 pack variety packs, you build them. Decent prices. | View Page : 1 2
