| kevd193213 (10), Coventry, Rhode Island | | June 14, 2008 Went here for my surprise 30th after touring the Coastal Extreme Brewery (Newport Storm). Many good UK ales on tap: Boddingtons, Newcastle Brown Ale, Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks, Murphy’s, Beamish, Bass, along with Newport Storm and some of the larger micros, Sierra Nevada, Old Burnside Ten Penny Ale, a couple of Sam Adams. Limited bottle selection, as the other reviewer stated it consisted of all macros.
We had the entire upstairs room to ourselves with our party of 20 or so, which meant the bar also was all ours. I was impressed with the wait staff, we were treated like royalty. Great jukebox too, which is big for me. Great food and reasonable prices. Good location too, next door is Brick Alley Pub which has a few more beers available. Probably my favorite birthday gift, just a great place. | | beerbill (31), Laurel, New York | | June 30, 2007
The tap beer selection was excellent and included: Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks, Murphy’s, Beamish, Magners Cider, Bass, Newport Storm, Sierra Nevada, Old Burnside Ten Penny Ale, Boddingtons, Newcastle Brown Ale, Belhaven, Sam Adams Summer Ale, Dogfish Head Ale, and Seadog Blueberry Wheat Ale. I may be leaving out a couple of micros. The bottle selection was not good and was basically all macros.
Food was very good with a nice selction of authentic irish fare. My kids had shephards pie and loved it. My wife had an irish stew and is still talking about it. And I went for the fish and chips, which was also very good. Place has the look and feel of an authentic irish pub. Parking can be a problem in downtown Newport, but if you are in town, this place is worth a look, especially now that Aidans is gone. |
