| douglas88 (117), Salt Lake City, Utah | | April 6, 2012 Great service, right next to the brewpub. I was a bit tipsy so I didn’t look around like I should have. Loads of bottles. Loads of Belgians and Cali stuff. | quiznoaz (4), Arizona does not count - explanation | | March 21, 2012 Very nice place to visit. They have imports that I can’t get in AZ, knowledgeable people, and its Port. How can you beat that? | | Blairgus (55), California | | March 15, 2012 i have never seen this many different belgian beers even in belgium. amazing selection of beers from all over. decent prices. a bit small but amazing! | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | March 13, 2012 Small tightly-packed bottle shop right next door to Pizza Port. Limited opening hours are a bit annoying. Extensive US and European selection at reasonable prices. All bottles are located in the fridges. I didn’t really see too much I hadn’t seen at some of the other good bottle shops in California, but with over 500 beers you can’t complain. The people working there make the store what it is. You can drink the beer on-site, so we shared a couple of bottles. If you are in the area this is an essential stop. | | jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | March 6, 2012 Stopped by here over a year ago with Linh while visiting San Diego. Great selection, highly recommended. | | Anova167 (17), Manhattan Beach, California | | March 4, 2012 Really relaxed look and feel like you are hanging in somebody’s garage, but not relaxed when it comes to selection. So many beers that I have simply not seen anywhere else in the US. Especially Scandinavian and Belgians. Great spot and can drink your bottles in the store. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | February 20, 2012 Visited the bottle shop and brewpub in January 2011 for a barrel festival, then came back the next day for lunch and bottle-shopping. Nice selection, well-maintained. Staff was friendlier than the day before. Worth a stop for us out-of-area folks looking for HotD, LA, RR. | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | February 20, 2012 Cool place right next to Pizza Port Carlsbad. You have to walk outside to find it so they aren’t technically connected. Best thing about this place is at night everyone hangs out in the beer store and opens bottles on premises since this bottle shop has the same liquor license as the brewpub next door. Cool little anomaly but anything for sale inside can be consumed on premise or taken to go. You can also bring your food from next door in too. Owner is really nice. Selection is broad and ranges from local stuff to Fantome and harder to find Scandavian stuff. Great place to drop by when you’re at Pizza Port Carlsbad. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | January 18, 2012 We hung out in town an extra hour and a half to see the bottle shop. I was not disappointed but it is exaggerated by some of the visitors. Yes, almost all the beer is refrigerated in ideal cold temperature without any strong lights in the store. Yes the selection is very good, though the Lost Abbeys were all regular stock. Good on the smaller bottles, the reasonable prices, and stuff I get out east but is harder to find in South Cal. I did find a number find a number of bottles am I am happy. Also Shawn who opened the store was very knowledgeable about beer. | | Ibrew2or3 (248), Phoenix, Arizona | | December 23, 2011 Well, my first time by here (fall 2008 maybe) sucked cause there was little information out and I drove up from downtown SD for a long lunch break only to find they didn’t open until 3pm. Dammit! Well now about 3 years later (my 2nd visit) I get here at 8pm on a Friday and it is open and it is pretty well packed with beer lovers. It was crowded as expected and a bit tough to get around and see the beer but man everyone seemed to be in a great mood creating a friendly vibe. I was surprise they had like 1 Pizza Port beer available. I guess I’m wrong to assume they would have more. So the Lost Abbey and Pizza Port selection is actually better at the big chain stores like BevMo. Overall the selection was so so but I absolutely love that everything is stored in the cold space and the bottles are not bathed in constant UV florescent lighting. Way to go! I grabbed my bottles and hit the checkout where the guy behind the counter couldn’t have been friendlier. I only wish the selection would have matched the hype about this place. I will happily go back to further study the selection. |
