50 Visited in June, first stop of the trip in order to visit beer heaven first. But man, how horrible can your service be?! I'm used to various degrees of blunt service in NL but this one took the cake. After asking inside to 3 inert, cross-armed staff members if we could take a seat outside we were looked at if we asked the stupidest question in the world. All tables were reserved but apparently it's not an issue if you sit down until that reserved time, it's only an issue to ask questions. The waitress just asked Wass? (what?). Without making any eye contact or interaction the beer was smacked onto our table. We drank our Ungespundet and decided to leave after that. Low ambiance rating due to horrible service, we didn't feel welcome at all. |
60 Lovely small traditional German restaurant with their own brew
Cousy and nice place. Very close to the train station
They had two of their own brew at our visit
Did not eat

64 Located on the outskirts of the Old Town of Bamberg, just opposite Brauerei Fässla, this venue is a typical one of its kind - a decent Bavarian brewpub, spacious, with a biergarten and an interior decorated on light wood, and heavily frequented by locals and tourists alike. A rather limited but tasty selection of beers brewed on location (3 taps and 4 bottles), and friendly staff. Tasty and satiating food - I had the Hungarian stew, wich features on the menu along some other traditional items. |
88 Our first visit here was Thursday 24th March 2022, we were staying 4 minutes away around the corner at Monello Apartments. Braurei Spezial is located between the old town and the railway station, but the town is not so large so it is a shortish walk to both. Another interesting thing is that it can be combined with a visit to Braurei Fassla as that is directly opposite across the road.
There is a little courtyard and the restaurant/bar is off to the left. As is the tradition in many German establishments there are large, long tables that you may likely share with others. Inside it is very traditional decor, old wood, tiles, a large green-tiled fireplace a bar and the serving area near the door, I think that there was another room off of this one, but possibly that was for private groups as most people were placed in this room.
Staff were super efficient and service for both food and drink was very quick, the clinetelle were also very friendly, mostly locals as far as we could tell. The prices were really good, we had a Schnitzel (Loz) and I had that Osso Bussco (I think that is how they call it, but it was described in Bayerisch), both were good, mine was excellent, prices about 30-40% cheaper than Munich prices. The beer was excellent, I had the Marzen and Loz the Weisse beer. This was one of my favourite places of the weekend and whilst we never got to Schlenkerla this time (we've been before) I think that this was every bit the equal. |

68 Visited many times. |
86 Beer type like in Schlenkerla. Place is small with long tables. They have also a classic pilsner and that could be important for someone. Good food! |
80 Visited in the evening, we were lucky enough to find a place in biergarten. Efficient services. Selection is limited to 4 beers, but the quality is very good to excellent. Loved their Ungespundet. Well worth checking out. |
80 Visited on a Monday night and we were glad we had reserved ahead. Due in part to the no doubt reserved number of places these days, tables fill up quick. Drank 3 beers over dinner, including a very nice Märzen. The food here has a leg up on the offerings over at Schlenkerla, at least in terms of sophistication. Seems to sell out quick though since many of the items were no longer available when we ate—which was only at 6.
Nice atmosphere and service was prompt and efficient. A must. |
