wholebeer (6), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | December 29, 2009 love Cumberland, they make great beer and have a great staff | jjking01 (8), , does not count - explanation | | December 21, 2009 Cumberland has so much potential, but they are not working up to it. Their Yerba Mate was a great beer, but is only seasonal. | | Teege (12), Orlando, Florida | | September 29, 2009 I really like going here when it isn’t too crowded to find a seat, which is important because the bar isn’t set up for standing. Their microbrews (to my knowledge the only beers they offer) are solid versions of the individual styles if not particularly complex or amazing. The food is good pub fare. I’ve had some really good times here. | | AndyReynolds (17), Wilder, Kentucky | | May 25, 2009 I was visiting friends in Louisville this past weekend. They took me here because they knew I was a bit of a beer nerd. I really enjoyed their seasonal IPA. I also tried several other beers they had to offer. They have a pretty good selection of their own beers, but their selection of other beers is not very good at all. They sell maybe 2-4 beers that are not theirs at a time. Their prices on a pint are excellent. I did not have a chance to try any food. The only thing I can complain about would be the lack of space. | | joeneugs (19), Livermore, California | | May 10, 2009 I visited this place back in Feb 09. Very cool spot in Louisville. Large bar downstairs with a smaller one upstairs and more seating. I loved all the deadhead decor and great background music. You really felt tucked away from all the commotion, where you can relax and enjoy some beer. The food was OK, and the beer was good, not spectacular, but I did really like the Nitro Porter and the Scottish ale. I remember the service being good. I will probably go back next year when I’m in town. | | AguynamedTodd (17), Indiana | | April 20, 2009 The place is small and finding a table (and a parking spot) is a problem. The upstairs is nice but sitting on those stools for any period of time can be a pain. The beers are adequate. Their best is the Nitro porter. Food is generic. If you must visit, go before 5 and on a weekday. | | Ryan82SM (29), Louisville, Kentucky | | February 21, 2009 Some may call this place cozy, but I would tend to call it cramped. Also, some would prefer the Bardstown Rd. address, but that more than often brings in people that know not much else besides macrobrew. Service was timely, but not very knowledgeable. I had some friends who were new to craft beer with me, and the waiter descriptions and suggestions were rather weak. Most of the Cumberland Brews beers are fine, especially the Pale Ale, but there is certainly a lack of variety. Didn’t have food when I was there, but have heard good things. My beers were pretty affordable and the food menu seemed to be as well. Worth a visit, just not too many of them. | Clydedog (2), Pewee Valley, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | January 21, 2009 Nice place to start a night but come early tables go like hot tamalles. Beer is decent but do not have more than three as it precludes you from tasting the rest of your night. Sidewalk seating is a must as it is one of the only places in Louisville that you can really feel that you are not in Small trying to be big town USA. Bison regulars top the list of accolades but wait staff is one of the drawbacks as they are too cool for school because they work in one of the only cool places in Louisville. bg | LarvalChemist (1), Lexington, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | January 11, 2009 Excellent place. Small and homey. This is also a drawback meaning tables are often at a premium.
The food is awesome. Their Kentucky Bison Burgers are probably some of the best burgers in town.
The beer list is small but almost entirely of their own creation. It’s all pretty tasty. The nitro porter is their classic but you really can’t go wrong with anything.
An awesome place to go hang out. | brassounds (2), Waddy, Kentucky does not count - explanation | | August 4, 2008 Cumberland has the best Pale Ale in town. The selection is large enough because all of the beers are of exceptional quality. Food is outstanding and flavorful. |
