Great place, great beer and great people, what else can I say? Parking was ok when I was there, but I could see how it can get limited at peak time. No food served in the bar, but the food truck was there both times I went. Quite a lot of space inside, with a second level containing a pool table. The beer here is great and it is easy to understand when you see Jeff running all over the place. Best place in NM as far as I’m concerned.

Small place in NE Albuquerque. The beers are fantastic. I’ve had a few at other bars around town and the two I had today measure up to the high standard that La Cumbre has set. Friendly service and friendly patrons. The mug club is a great deal and I’m likely to join soon. An enjoyable place and I’m sure to be back.

Love this place. A bit out of the way for visitors without a rental, but it would be worth it to cab it. Awesome space and a hell of a selection on tap. Expect this place to be busy, but it’s worth it. Jeff Erway is the man.

Made 3 trips to the brewery during my days in Albq. The area is unusual, it is pretty much in a commercial/warehouse district, but with quick access to the highway, it doesn’t really matter. The brewery has space at the bar for 10-12 people and lots of tables throughout and some nice leather chairs. There were 10-12 taps (with one guest beer one) and a couple beer pumps. Nice variety in the beers and everything was well made. Snacks were provided, free of charge (I think) and there is a water dispenser so you can stay hydrated. The staff seemed knowledgeable and friendly, it can get crowded and it can take a couple minutes to get a beer on the weekend, but that was not really a big deal. The mug club is a great deal. There are lots of friendly regulars and a nice diverse mix of people. Kid friendly. They don’t serve food, but there was a food truck parked outside one night that had a great hot dog with green chili’s, cheese and bacon. Looking forward to my next visit.

Fairly big place - bigger than I was expecting. Lots of great brews on tap. Tasted a few, had a pint. Lots of people were coming in for growlers. The parking is probably an issue, as there aren’t many spots at the building itself. They don’t have a kitchen. But Erway’s making some nice stuff and this should be on the list of for any beer lover passing through town.

Spacious yet intimate feel walking insider from a landscape of warehouses. Service was standard. I believe there were 9 house beers, with 2 of the 9 also on cask, as well as 3 quality guest taps available when I visited. Not surprisingly, the casks were very well presented, which we all know is not always the case at US brewpubs. Nice to see a quality imperial stout on tap at this time of year in this neck of the woods as well. The beer was generally very good, as expected, but as a traveling ratebeerian, I don’t appreciate the marketing tone on the website and in some beer descriptions championing it as the best beer ever. I understand it’s just marketing, but it feels particularly unnecessary in a place like Albuquerque where there are plenty of people already drinking top of the line beer who don’t need to be told what good beer is.

Update 1/21/2012. I have now visited this brewery a few times and it has made a lot of improvement from a great brewery to an outstanding brewery. Not only do they make a world class IPA (with a GABF gold to boot), the quality and complexity of their seasonals has really expanded. On my most recent visit, they had a lighter version of the IPA, coffee stout, red rye ale, and spiced winter ale, and all were excellent. They also have live music twice a week, and the group I happened to catch was very talented. The place was packed on a Wednesday night. La Cumbre has emerged from one of the best ABQ breweries to (IMO) the best brewery in Albuquerque. It is a highly recommended stop.

A small tap-only brewery in a warehouse district of Albuquerque. It has an underground feeling to it with pipes on the ceiling and a darker interior. Lots of empty bottles all around the place. There is a small bar which was completely full once we got there; also a bunch of wooden tables. There were a number of beers on tap (4-5 regulars and 3-4 seasonals plus 3-4 guest taps). Their seasonals appear to feature some interesting styles (impy while I was there). If you plan on becoming a regular here they have a great mug club ($20 gets you 22 oz pours for $4, a free growler and fill of your choice, and subsequent $1 off every growler fill). Their IPA is great and I’d definitely keep coming back just for that!

Low prices. Nosiy and no out door seating. My least favorite of ABQ brew pubs.

Yet another Ratebeerian opens a brewery, or own Erway! I have known him for many years and he is nothing short of a pleasant, easy going guy. His beers are great! The atmosphere here is very organic-no frills, almost "hippie" -ish, but not in a bad way. This IS A MUST STOP if your in Albuquerque! Im very happy to see this city turn into such a beer mecca. Good things are going on at the foot of the Sandia Mts!
