| gvmdw7 (31), California | | March 22, 2012 This is the first brewery I hit up in Asheville. It had an eclectic mix of people, much like the town. The beers were solid and the atmosphere was great. I didn’t sample the food truck offerings. Well worth the 4 hour drive to get here. | TN_Gabe (7), , does not count - explanation | | March 9, 2012 Really good beers, just have to put up with all the hipsters and pigeon crap to get them. The free peanuts are nice, but attract pigeons so don’t sit in the patio area when it’s nice out unless you like sky-rat poop. If it’s your first time, GPS is your friend or just follow ’River Arts District’ signs. | AppVin (4), does not count - explanation | | February 15, 2012 Great brewery with world class beer. Keep in mind this facility (and its surroundings) are all about the beer. Not for folks that are looking for a brewpub or a macro-brewery experience. Industrial ambiance, with spacious outdoor accommodations including lawn games and upper patio. From our experience the beers are very consistent and true to style if not some what superior to other regional examples at least with in Ashevilles borders. Certainly a european-esque feel to the balance and clarity of their brews with good complexity and flavor while being way to drinkable for most of their lofty ABV. | | agl108 (30), Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania | | January 13, 2012 Artsy, iron/metal brewpub by the river. Lots of heady dudes with beards hanging out drinking beers. Had about 6 beers on draft when I stopped by. Definitely a must visit if you’re looking to hit an Asheville area brewery. This is where the locals go... | | smoosh (32), New Albany, Indiana | | December 27, 2011 A small, but *very* cool place! No food. The beer list was small, but nicely varied. I had an excellent raspberry imperial stout. Cannot wait to return! | | hellbilly (130), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | November 1, 2011 The wedge 7/18/11... Bad-fukken-ass place. No frills, artsy metal graveyard, art gallery, dirt parking lot on the underpass in a warehouse, packed at 7 on a monday! You really have to know where youre going to get here. Beer’s great, food truck out front, out side seating in the lot, very relaxing chill spot.
This is the best PLACE in ash... so far. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | October 7, 2011 October 2011. What a crazy place -- in an odd, newly "rescued" area of A-ville, Wedge is part of an old industrial complex alongside the railroad track. With a broad outdoors sitting area and eclectic Hawaiian live music the night we visited, this place screams "counterculture". The beer was solid, but not among the best in A-ville (IMHO). If your’e walking (like we were), this place was far afield, and I’m not sure I’d say you HAVE to go here. If you have more time, and can venture deep into Asheville, then check this place out. (#554) | | lopezlopezlope (11), , | | October 1, 2011 really fun spot, great beers, specifically brett saison, always make this a must-stop when around asheville, could hang out here hour after hour | | Shag (46), Chattanooga, Tennessee | | September 8, 2011 A nice little brewery in the artsy fartsy district of Asheville. I’ve been here twice and enjoyed the beers. There isn’t much room indoors but plenty of places to sit outside. They do not serve food but there are usually food trucks parked around. It’s a little out of the way of the other Asheville stuff but worth stopping by for a few pints. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | August 26, 2011 Great brews on tap. The vibe is renovated warehouse with no A/C and the occasional train in the backyard. The location is surrounded by other renovated warehouses inhabited by artists so it inherits their eclectic vibe. They show movies on the side of an old delivery truck on saturdays. The beers are all fantastic, though they do love citrus in their brews. Would come back in cooler weather. |
